Friends in Bridal Party Vent

Friends in Bridal Party Vent

I dont want to be specific, but has anyone been disappointed in their friends that are in their bridal party? Maybe you expected them to be happier for you than they really seem to be. Or maybe you expected them to be happier or more honored that you would have them in your bridal party and they dont seem to be. In fact they act like its a HUGE inconvenience.

Ive just had a VERY upsetting and disappointing week with my friends and Im just really hurt and shocked at the things that have gone on and just needed to share without getting in to details, with girls that can relate.

I wish girls didnt have to be so petty and catty. Even the ones you never thought would.
Its just really upsetting.

I can absolutely agree!!! All I have to say is thank god I have an amazing SIL or else I would've lost my mind completely!! My best friend was my MOH and we had a HUGE falling out and I threw her out of the bridal party. My SIL is now my MOH and I couldn't be happier!!! My one BM lives in Brooklyn so I had to pick up her dress, and my other bridesmaid literally lives 10 minutes from the place and still hasn't picked up her dress, just because of pure laziness and inconsideration. It ***** but I bent over backwards for my 2 friends when they were getting married a month apart from each other and it ***** that they are not reciprocating AT ALL!!!!!

I know EXACTLY how you feel and it ***** but it makes you realize who is a true friend.

I understand...luckily, most of my BP is family, so I haven't had major issues, but one of my friends has said and done some pretty hurtful things.

I have also been disappointed in my bridal party.... not all of the girls but some of them. I thought that they would be able to pick up a phone and ask me how things are going and if I need any help with anything. Its almost like being in the bridal party is no big deal to some and it hurts my feelings b/c if it were the other way around... I'd be the first person to be asking what they need and if I can be any help.

Fh says I expect too much from people because most people dont care. Im sorry this is happening to you too- You are not alone!

Everytime I read threads like this, I feel really happy that I just have a MOH.

I'm sorry your BP's are being stinky...what goes around comes around...

i can totally relate. i'm lucky, my MOH is the sweetest person i know. my other BM is my family (cousin)...but she was genuinely happy that i asked her. however, another person, who shall remain nameless ...but who i thought would be SO happy to be in it, actually, long story short, told me she didn't want to be in it at all, she came up with the LAMEst of excuses. but truth be told, someone told me she's apparently jealous of me and thinks I have it 'too good'... it's sad but true...some people just can't handle good things in other people's lives. i'm sorry that you have to go through it, it hurts, it makes you angry, it makes you feel bad...but once the hurt passes, you can find your way through it..and focus on the fact that in the end, it's all about you and FH and those other people, sure it's great if they are an awesome BP, but if their not...don't let them take away from your happiness! i'm sorry, i am bad at advice sometimes!

This is part of why I only have a MOH.

I'm going through the same thing. I have one less BM and another who still hasn't ordered her BM dress, even though we all ordered them back in November AND she still always has an excuse. So strange how people act, especially the ones you least expect to act like this.

Re: Friends in Bridal Party Vent

I was definitely disappointed in a few. My cousin took 3 months to order her BM dress and didn't even do it until I called her up on the day it was due saying if she didn't call within 24 hours we were placing the order without her and she wouldn't be in the wedding party. She called more than 24 hours later, but she got lucky because they didn't place the order when I asked the people to.

I also have a friend who is having some serious issues in her life right now (mostly by her own choice not to solve simple problems) and so she was completely *** the last 4-5 months before the wedding and got so drunk at the bachelorette party that we had to go to the hospital. So my party consisted of going out to a restaurant, eating dinner and then when dessert arrived calling 911 and watching her throw up for 2 hours. I'm still livid with her.

In the long run my cousin more than came through, but my BM...we'll see how the next few months go...

Mandy I think your good at it because your RIGHT! It is all about FH and I in the end. And Im not going to let 2 girls out of an entire bridal party RUIN it for me!

Ya know what I know their true colors now and I see how selfish people can be. And how jealous they can be when its NOT about them! OMG can you imagine for the FIRST TIME the world isnt revolving around them?! HOLY SMOKES! lol

Thank you girls you really made me feel better to know Im not alone and that it DOES suck but it will be ok!

Exactly! At the end of the day you have him and that's all you need.

Re: Friends in Bridal Party Vent

Ladies, I truly sympathize with all of your feelings and frustrations.

I cannot even begin to tell you how badly I've been treated by my own bridal party and friends that are not part of the Bridal Party but I considered fairly close. It's been pretty much the only source of my frustrations about the wedding planning.

First it started with one BM refusing to get the dress ordered (mind you I was paying for the girls' dresses). We went back and forth around 20 times. I was extremely upset that I was given idiot not to mention horribly constructed excuses. One day it was her forgetting, another day it was something else, final day she said she was too hung over from the night before (partying) and that she couldn't go to the store to place the order. One day I decided that enough was enough so I basically said 'let's not fight and bicker anymore come to the wedding as a guest and not a bridesmaid.' She totally lost is right then and there - she cursed me out from head to toe calling me a psycho and a bridezilla and stating that I ruined a friendship over a dress. Since that time (March) we haven't spoken and she's been bad mouthing me to all of our mutual friends. Obviously she isn't attending the wedding.

It's a month to my wedding and my MOH has been non stop attempting to organize my bachelorette party. Everybody invited (less than 10 people) would not even bother to reply to her. At a point she asked me to get involved because her e-mails and calls to them weren't working. I got involved and not one person has responded at all. One of the invited girls (who is not a BM) is friends with the demoted BM (from the story above) and I have a feeling they've been discussing me left and right and this caused for others (who were probably told the story) not to even answer.

I am extremely hurt, but trying my hardest to concentrate on the bigger picture and stay positive. People simple DO NOT care, Others do not wish you well at all. Like many of you said a wedding will really show people's true colors. The process will most probably make you lose friends (then again those that you would lose weren't your friends to begin with).

At this point in time it appears that I am not even having a bachelorette party (or a bridal shower for that matter).

Re: Friends in Bridal Party Vent

i gotta tell you i am no longer friends with my poor excuse for a MOH she became such a uesless PO S and her and her discusting BF that wasn't coming till the day before didn't keep their mouths closed about how much my wedding and everything suc ked the whole time
i just ignorded her the whole day and fcused on me and my hubby.
She also had said some things to my daughter at the salon that i wish i had heard her say myself or had been told about it while we were there i would have slaped thecrap out of her and thrown her out right then and there

it is so true that weddings bring out peoples true colors.
people that you think are your good friends actually are just 'fair weather' friends
i'm so sorry to any bride that has to deal with the same problems i did and do not wish that on anyone
