Two of my 'friends' decided at the last minute that they're not coming to the wedding. I've known one of them since the 4th grade, the other since 7th. Both live in Florida.
Both of them emailed me about a week apart ane are claiming to be 'broke.' But when one of them got married (at 22) and I was genuinely poor and in grad school, I scraped together money that I didn't have to fly to Florida and book a hotel and give a very nice gift.
I guess what goes around doesn't always come around...

Sorry to hear that, but i know how you feel. A lot of fh's friends aren't coming for various reasons, a lot of them used the 'its a friday and i have to work' excuse, but whatever. Also some of my cousins aren't coming and i've been to all of their events, so thats a little annoying too. Don't worry, that day you'll see all of the people who really want to be there and thats all that matters!

I'm sorry to hear that. I can sympathize....one of my friends that I've known for over 15 years told me she is not able to come because her daughter is going to sleepaway camp and she is going to be a counselor there. No matter what the reason it's such a disappointment...when she got married and I was in my early 20s, poor and single I went out of my way to buy a new dress, go to her wedding and give her a gift.

that stinks when people don't do the right thing....just remember that for future events that come up with them...but certainly don't let it ruin your special time!

Oh wow...that is so dissappointing. I know how you feel...you were able to scrape the money together...why cant they? Also the must have known about it for a long time! Come on now.
I am so sorry tho, i know your feelings must be hurt.

i have some treating it as it it were a casual dinner invitation, and i can tell they dont really want to go because my wedding is out east. as far as im concerned, without a real reason (even if made up!) its friendship ending.

I am so sorry hun You are a wonderful person for doing that when your situation was tight. Some people just aren't able to see beyond themselves or their situation

That's exactly how I feel, and it's so disappointing. I don't think I'm ever going to see them again. We've known each other more than half our lives... If they can't find a way to come to NY for their oldest friend's wedding, how can I still call them my friends?
