Friend's wedding dress story

Original post by xjulietx

One of my co-workers/friends brought in her wedding album from 1995 and I was admiring her dress and she told me it was her great-grandmothers'. It was a straight lace dress that you would wear over a slip and it was so pretty. It turned out it had been in a paper bag in the corner of a barn in Wyoming for 50 someodd years, but miraculously nothing got to it and they were cleaning the barn around the time she was getting married and they found it. Her mom soaked it in lemon and water (she didnt want to use bleach) and let it dry in the sun and it came out white. Her great-grandmother wore it in 1918 and she wore it in 1995 and it didn't need any alterations.

I just wanted to share. If I can get her to scan a pic, I will post it

I asked her and she doesn't have a pic scanned, but she will try. If she sends one to me, I will be sure to post it. What's even better than her wearing her great-grandmother's dress is that she is a sweetheart of a person, too.

That is such a cool story, I wish I were small enough to fit into ANY old dress.
