From a different perspective... (LONG)

From a different perspective... (LONG)

So there's this girl, E, who I've known since first day, Freshman year of College. We've never been particularly close, but I do count her among my friends. We were bridesmaids together for another friend's wedding, and we always have a good time when we get together.

She was invited to my wedding, waffled for awhile about whether or not she'd come, and cancelled at the last minute for a 'family emergency.' I'm putting it in quotes because at the moment I'm not sure how true that is. Also, there was a gift that came off my registry which I never got, and I'm 90% sure that she bought it. But all of that never bothered me.

She's been engaged now for a little more than a year, and when she first got engaged, she was talking about running off to Vegas. But then she decided not to do that, and booked a Winery upstate for the wedding. She and the friend we'd been BMs together for were somewhat on the rocks at the time, and so she emailed me and two other girls to ask what we thought about her asking this friend to be her MOH. In the same email, she says that she doesn't want a big bridal party, but that she'd like the three of us to be 'Bridekateers' (whatever that meant). Many jokes about swords were made, she asked the other friend to be MOH, friend said yes, and all was fine.

Then, E Drops off the face of the Earth. Barely posts to her LJ, we don't hear from her for months.

Yesterday, she posted to her LJ how excited she was about her wedding in 9 months. I had forgotten which date she had, so I posted to ask, then I realized she'd already posted that in a WAY earlier post, so I posted again to say nevermind, I found the date, and I'm writing it down so I won't forget.

She says: 'Well..to nicely put it...we still have yet to decide if we're just doing a small get-together with family members or what. We're both not big-to-do people :)'

UHHHH, WHAT??? You said you wanted my help with planning and such, and now I might not even be INVITED??????

Look, I'm the *first* person to say 'Leave me off the guest list if you're having problems'. The First. But you don't invite someone and then uninvite them! I had the guest list from H*LL, but I invited everyone who I had said would be invited.

One of the other 'bridekateers' says 'well, you know E - she's always been a loner, a very private person. I wouldn't be surprised if I weren't invited either.' And she's right - E *has* always been like this. That doesn't mean that what she did wasn't incredibly rude.

What a sticky situation. I am a firm believer that you do not know someone until your big day or even their big day. Rachel this woman obciously doesnt consider you a friend. Now you know

I absolutely agree with the previous advice. She does not consider you a friend for whatever crazy reasons she has floating in her head. You never know what peple's problems are. If you feel comfortable then confront her about this, if not forget, she's not worth your trouble.

Enjft- why do you think this is? Jealousy and the evil eye I'm discovering this as well and it's not pretty.

That is very strange, I would do myself a favor and distance myself from this person who obviously doesn't value your friendship.

Quite frankly, this girl sounds like a nut.

I think all brides need to be cognizant of talking to others about their wedding, and be careful not to mention things casually that they might not follow through on...She sounds like a flake to me...
