*frustrated*...I feel dumb..

I lost a contact this morning..
I touched the bottom of my eye and *pop* it flew out. GOD that annoys me.

Now I have to take a day off work and go spend money to replace them.

My eyes are so bad I won't get them back for a week. So I'm wearing a soft contact on my left eye (from the last time I lost a contact) and a gas-permable on my right eye.

I hate soft contacts.. this drying out stuff is horrible!!

*VENT*.. sorry just had to vent.

Cant even see anyone till 10am!!!!

I'm a relatively new contact lense wearer. The only time I had a contact pop out was the evening of my wedding. I had no idea and when I went to take the contact out of my right eye, I kept on irritating it because there was nothing to take out. I didn't know what to do because this has never happened to me before and DH know nothing about contacts.

When I got contacts, I was given a year's supply. Why do you have to wait for a new lense?

to you! This is probably what you don't need on a Monday morning.

you should try disposable contacts if you can - it helps when you lose one!!

At least you had a spare to use!

Yeah, I get 6 pair at a time of the disposables and they last all year. It's nice to always have spares!

Because I wear gas-premable. Also known has semi-hard toric lenses. They are relatively tiny in comparison to normal soft contacts. They only cover my pupil (sp?) not the whole iris.

They last up to 5 years or more. I normally replace after 5 years out of habit. They need no real maintanance. Water cleans them out, but spit. Yes, spit is more advised for quick cleaning in dire needs. Normally you can clean them off with eye drops (its what I prefer). You can sleep in them, techically swim in them (though I wont-too scared).

They are technically dry since they allow air to pass through. This morning one has slipped a little south on my eye...so I just put a finger under my bottom lid to push it back to place.. but it was early and my eyes were really dry so *pop*.

Why wait a week, cause my prescription is really strong. Why don't I have a supply? I only get one set, it last 5 years. Why go through the doctor visit again? Because even though my vision hasn't changed in 10years they ALWAYS make me see the eye doctor again after 1 year has passed. Buggers!
Like buying contacts aint enough!

disposables still arent made in gas permable. at least not in my strenght.

Yeah, lucky I have this spare.. but it's not quite clear.

Buying a spare set is always a thought since they don't need to be stored wet. It's just it's like $300 for one set. I always SAY i will but i haven't.

I've been talking about buying some glasses again *FEAR* to supplement. But honestly my eyes are BAD! It's been since 1993 since i've worn glasses.. i hear they've come a long way.. but I really hated the thickness and weight.

I also have gotten used to periphial (sp?) vision that I'd lose with glasses.

Without any contacts or glasses.. walls blur and I can't see corners in my room. Can't read the alarm even. People with 20/20 have no idea how lucky they are.

Even WITH contacts I don't get 20/20 in my right!

i've been wearing glasses since 1982 (i was 7) and contacts since 1991 (10th grade). and i know exactly how you feel - i have terrible vision and cannot see without my contacts or glasses - not just blurry - but no vision at all!!!
so i can feel your pain!
once when i was in london, we were on the subway and my contact popped out and landed on the floor!!! i found it but i couldn't put it back in my eye until i bought cleaner to clean it....i had such a headache by the end of the night!
