Frustrated...Please Help!

Hi ladies...I have been on the gown search for a while now and I am feeling a bit hopeless..I have seen a few i like but nothing that i really LOVE. Everyone says you will just know when you see it but I am getting nervous that I am running out of options..I am in class 2 nights a week and the other two i am on dress mission mode..I am getting tired! I have gone to 2 places on LI and a bunch in the city. Alot of them have been carrying the same designers so maybe i need to find different places. I also did not want to go above a certain budget but i am now wondering if I should..Did anyone else feel like this? Please tell me I will find it..

I looked through magazines and found some dresses I liked and then I went to the stores that carried them to try them on.

I felt like that too. On my first day I found a dress I really liked but wasn't sure if I LOVED it. I'm glad I waited. I went to like 10 other stores and finally= at my last stop, Kleinfelds I found the one I love. Of course I couldn't just buy it that day. I went to Bridal Reflections in Carle Place and tried it on again and bought it. It will take a while but do NOT settle. What kind of dress are you looking for?

I didnt know what I wanted and felt like you. I must of tried on about 30 dresses before I found my dress. Have you tried Bridal Suite in Centereach? Debbie there is wonderful and maybe she can help you.

I looked at almost every gown on Theknot.com,
and what's funny is that I only Loved Two gowns...out of all those gowns! I tried on both at bridal suite of Manhatten (no other stores carried either dress) and knew the first dress was the one. Have you checked out the knot and printed dresses that you like? I know I would go crazy if I just went into a bridal store without asking what specific dress I want to try on (I hate clothes shopping in general!)

I hope this helps.

I am going through the same exact thing and it is so frustrating. I pick out pictures in magazines and on-line but when I get to the store and see them they don't look as good in person. I think I have tried on every dress available. lol I am getting worried that I am running out of time but I don't want to settle.

don't worry girls you will find the dress!! maybe take a week off and relax. don't look at pictures, don't do anything and then go shopping again.

from my experience looking at pictures did nothing. it was a completely useless exercise. i found a dress i adored in a magazine and when i tried it on it looked like crap. so did all the other ones i picked out. i went with something that was a completely different style than what i thought i would like. so make sure to try on as many different styles as you can. then you can figure out well, i like the round neckline on this one, but the beading on that one, and the train on that one. and eventually you'll find the one that has all those elements.

Re: Frustrated...Please Help!

Thanks for telling me you felt similar..So far I have really liked the marisa's..I am looking for something strapless and a-line..pretty simple..

How many stores do people usually go to? I have gone to:
RK Bridal
Bridal Gown Company
Macy's-Smithhaven
Bridal Suite of centereach
Annique Bridal
Bridal Suite of Manhattan
Serafina
Simple Sillouettes
Vera sample sale (in dec) actually liked something but the beading on top was coming off, the dress was badly ripped & dirty and half the buttons were missing i could not bring myself to buy it

I think that is it... anything people can think of to hit that I missing...
Thanks again for your help!

Edited to say that when i went to some of these stores i was trying to stick to lower budget so i did not see all the dresses..now i feel like I should go back and be more opne but I feel like that is backtracking.. ahhh...

I would recommend Bridal Reflections in Carle Place, that is where I got my gown. I worked w. Maddy, and she was amazing, really listened to what I was looking for and brought me dresses that were all in the style I liked. They have tons of gowns there, and I did not find it to be high pressure- just gave her my price range and we stuck to it. You will find it, good luck!

Re: Frustrated...Please Help!

I am sad to report that I did not find a dress I loved until I increased my budget. There is a difference in what you can find based on cost.

I was in the same boat. I would like a dress and then go back again and not even recognize it again. I tried on so many dresses and then I decided to increase my budget a little and when I tried on the more expensive dresses I really didn't love them either. If it makes you feel better try on some more expensive dresses. I am so glad I did because at least I know they didn't look good on me- otherwise I would always say'I wish I had spent more money for that other dress'.

Just some input from a newlywed!
I got a dress I loved for under $450!
So, you may not need to increase you budget.
Try Angel Bridals in Islip and Estelles in Farmingdale(yes, estelles!)
Keep trying! You will be glad you did when you find your dress!

Re: Frustrated...Please Help!

i felt the exact same way... I must have gone to 6 or seven stores and tried on 30 to 40 dresses.

I finally went by myself to Bridal Reflections in Massapequa (I'm on a budget and they seemed to have more dresses in my range). I explained to the sales girl what i was looking for and she took out several dresses as well as others. I tried to go in with open mind. I found my dress....it happens to be a Marisa. It is strappless, with an overlay of lace with seed pearls and crystals. Chapel train.

Completely different from what I thought I was looking for, but when I put it on it seemed like me. The good thing about going by myself is that I didn't have to try on dress that other people liked. Which is what I was doing although I knew right away by looking at the dress it was not right for me.

I did bring my step-mother a week later to see the dress and when I put it on she had tears in her eyes and I knew it was the right dress.

I also saw a few dress in Priscilla of Boston that were nice thought they were a but pricey.

I would also recommend Lillette's in Baldwin. They've got a very knowledgeable, professional staff there. Try to pick out the silhouette that you like & go from there. Do you prefer strapless, a-line, princess, ball gown .. full skirt, etc. Once you decide on a silhouette than the options are narrowed down. I found that this helped. Once I decided on a style, I found it within the next 2 appointments.

Don't get frustrated .... this is a fun & exciting time for you. Try not to make it your mission or a job. Enjoy it ... it goes soooo fast.

good luck, sweetie!

I don't know your budget but David's Bridals have sales starting at $99! I went to Bridal Garden in Bethpage. They have a variety of different brands and prices - - my budget was up to $1,500, and I found the dress I love for $1,200. They have dresses there for $900 (the average).

Re: Frustrated...Please Help!

I've gone to several gown stores in L.I. & NYC & tried on lotsa gowns (didn't count how many). I've even driven out to Pennsylvania to hit the warehouses & tried on a few while visiting relatives in Charlotte NC & Boston MA!

BUT I found the one at RK (altho I may not buy it there! ) & it was completely different from the dress I'd been picturing myself in!! I didn't like it based on pics I saw, but tried it on for the heck of it cuz they had it in my size & I found 'the one'. Just keep trying & definitely don't settle cuz the SECOND you do, you'll find your dream dress! Good luck!
