A very good friend of mine lives by the words 'Can't Say I'm Not Nice'

Ok so you hate FSIL, by not inviting her you are giving her ammo to talk shite about you. If you invite her and she still talks crap then it's all on her and she looks like an ***. No one can turn around and say that you aren't the nice one. Trust me it iworks. It's really hard sometimes, but it works.

Yeah that was one of their arguments...I am not sure it would start drama but you are right it could!

I think you should invite her only because if you dont you are giving her a reason to start saying things about what you did to family and friends ya know? it sucks but who knows she may not even come... at least you invited her..

No, she probably won't fly in. And then at the next family event you can talk about how X from out of state couldn't make but sent an amazing (really thoughtful gift) and make FSIL feel bad.
