FSIL Vent

FSIL Vent

I posted last night that FSIL has been blowing me off about getting measured. I've been telling her for probably almost 3 months that this needs to get done by Jan 1. I emailed her last night to tell her she needs to get it done or come out and tell me she doesn't want a dress.

She emails me back...'i want to lose some weight before i get my dress...can i subtract a little off of my measurements?'

Seriously?? When you lose weight it's sometimes not in every part of your body!

My sister was also hesitant to order her dress because she wants to lose weight. The only answer to that is:

'It can ALWAYS be taken in........'

Why doesnt she just order her size now and have it altered after. It would probably need some kind of alterations anyway. What if she subtracts a little off her measurements and doesnt loose in that area.

I know ...and also she is in FL and the dress shop is in NY, meaning they will need to ship the dress to her to be altered which is another $25 ::sigh::

Is she serious!
I feel so bad that you have to deal with this. Can you tell her to at least order her dress since it takes time to come in? Maybe even order one size down if she is willing to risk it. At least then she would have it and at least she would know how much weight she would need to lose to fit into it?

I agree! And honestly, what are the chances she really will lose the weight?

first of all... it doesnt matter if she doesnt want to pay for alterations or not... thats part of the deal when you agree to be in the BP... honestly, she is 16 right? tell her mother...

One of my BM delayed the intial measurements cause she wanted to lose weight, I didn't mind that much but only because we have plenty of time to get them in.

They can just order it a size smaller if she really plans on losing weight. If not then she will just need to get it altered. To be honest I wouldnt worry about it.

ITA...if anything she should just order the size she is right now. BTW, her mother knows about the situation as well and isn't doing anything to push this along

Um, sorry - I have yet to find a bmaid who HASN'T gotten any alteration - even if it fits perfectly length-wise, it usually needs to be taken in on top.

My one friend decided to not get her dress altered b/c she didn't want to pay - it was at that awkward length between the knee and calf, and was way too tight on top - we had to wrap her boobs in Ace bandages in order for it to fit and she couldn't breathe all night!!!!

Side note: I would order the size she is now - time is running out and she can get it fitted probably cheaper at a tailor instead of the bridal store.
