I couldn't make this stuff up. My dad had been telling his surgeon (and all his doctors, nurses, etc.) that I'm getting married and when the wedding is. (That's my dad!) My dad also has a crazy sense of humor...
Well, right before he went into the OR, one of his surgeons came to talk to him. The convo went like this:
Dad: Don't screw up. I already paid for my tux!
Surgeon: Geeze, talk about pressure!
The surgeon even came and told us this story after my dad did. That's my dad for you!
Every time I walk into the ICU, someone knew comes in to say 'You're the daughter who's getting married soon, right?!'

Oh I forgot the best part. My dad told me this story less than 30 minutes after they took the breathing tube out! He could barely talk, but got enough of a kick out of himself that he had to tell the story. He told us again today (as did the surgeon), so we know he wasn't making it up.
He'd joke around that like - classic Dad!

I think he thinks it'll get him out of the hospital sooner. Like, 'Hey you - hurry up and make me better. I have a wedding to go to.'
Or 'Hey, don't mess this up and slow me down! I have a wedding to go to!'
You can't help but love him.
