Furniture Nightmare!

Furniture Nightmare!

Ok,
Dh and I bought a nice casual dining set at Tiffany Furniture on 110 in Farmingdale. We got a good price, and free delivery. The man who helped us was very nice....

Here is the nightmare part: The table came last week, two chairs were scratched up and the leaf in the table was broken. I called right away, and they said they would call me back.

Well, they never called back, so I had to. The man I spoke with was the RUDEST man I have ever spoken too. I just wanted to know when I would get my new table and two chairs, and explained how nobody was getting back to me. Well he told me the only lady who could help me was gone for the day, he got really nasty and started saying crap like 'What dont you understand Lady, you are out of luck here, do you want me to recreate the woman who left for the day...you have to call back next week...too bad'.

All this attitude because I asked a question! I WAS SO MAD....so I got my husband the attorney on the phone with him asap! Not only was he nasty to my husband as well, but he hung up on him too!

So, now here I am a week later, waiting on yet another Saturday for my damn table to be delivered. I wanted to cancel the whole order, but my DH really wants this table.

These people should have been here by now. I am getting more angry each minute. By the way, no apology was offered either. After this transaction is said and done, they will be reported to BBB, and they will be receiving quite the letter from me.

They have no reguard for customer satisfaction at all!

I will never give this place another dime!

END OF VENT!!!!

Re: Furniture Nightmare!

ooooooh - i can soooo relate!!!
we ordered two couches (before the wedding) at 'The Place' on Rt. 110. They told us 6-8 weeks...so we thought, great - we'll have just gotten back from the honeymoon - perfect!
so Tom called when it got to 6 weeks.....and they had never even put the order in!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They claimed that there was a problem with the paperwork and the one saying we put the deposit down was somehow overlooked!! so instead of calling us to find out if we woul d be putting the deposit down, they just ignored it. So they placed the order that day...and said 3 weeks.
The next day we get a call from them that one of the fabrics we chose was DISCONTINUED....and we woul dhave to go down there to choose another one...grrrrr.
SO we go down that night and try to find a matierial close to the red we had originally chosen. The only one they had was a red in a different rtextued fabric, so we said, fine, we;ll go with that (we designed the paint for the room arouns these couches). So they told us the couches would be ready in 2 weeks...they'd rush them, and waive the delivery charge....
Well, two weeks was up on tuesday, so when i called them, they said they would be arriving on the 14th!!! that'll be 4 weeks from when we chose the fabric!!!!!
i am soooo angry with them! we have no living room furniture.....just two computer desk chairs and a bunch of folding chairs!!!!!

thanks for letting me vent Christy! I feel better now

Lori,
I have yet to have a good furniture experience, we got our couch from Macy's and they said 8-10 weeks due to the fact that I changed the fabric and it was special order. Well I waiting 18 weeks!!!! Yup, we had a moldy futon in our condo for months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Furniture people are worse that used car salesmen!

Re: Furniture Nightmare!

Don't even get me started - we had a problem with our stove...the couches and getting the phone hooked up....we moved in almost 2 months ago...and it was finally hooked up yesterday!!!!
All of our other furniture we bought at Ikea, brought it home and put it together ourselves!
If only I could make couches........

and i thought our story was bad - we didhn't order from the place but were supposed to get our couch and loveseat during the day when i firts moved into my apt...so i took the day off - they called three times to tell me they were delayed but hours apart - it was at 8 that they then called again - i was furious so i finally called the store back to complain - the guy swore they would be there in 20 mins - well, the sotre closed in 20 mins - thats why he said that...i literally thought i would be the girl crying on ch 2 news! - it owund up they showed up at 12 am!!!! we would have refused delivery but liked the set and figured we woudl NEVER EVER get it if we didn't - we made them truck it up the deck and into the house - it was horrible and they got no tip - i felt kinda bad but really, it was more than 14 hrs late!!!! i should also add - i had just moved in and they showed up at midnight to bring my furnitirue in a yellow truck covered in graffiti - oh what the neighbors thought!! now we laugh but at the time i wasn't so amused!!

sorry you all went through this too!

Re: Furniture Nightmare!

OK - here are two good furniture experiences, acutally 3, 2 of them with one place.

Bare Boards in Bohemia is great when it comes to customer service. Our sofa and our coffee table (ordered separately) both arrive well ahead of the estimated time. The sofa manufacturer had forgotten to include the additional arm covers we ordered, which I realized a couple of days later. I called and they said they would check with the manufacturer, who realized they had forgotten them, and they were sent and arrive within a few weeks.

The coffee table has a glass insert and DH accepted delivery. Later that night, I was sitting there and realized it had the smallest tiny chip at the corner of the bevelled glass. I called them and they said no problem, ordered a replacement and it was here in a week. Though it was well wrapped, it too had a chip, so we took it right back (a half hour after picking it up) and instead of ordering another he checked the floor sample, it was fine, so he removed that and gave it to us.

Our other good experience was with Furnitureland South (www.furniturelandsouth.com). We got our Drexel Heritage dining room set from them. Again, great, prompt service, friendly competent deliverymen and the furiture arrived ahead of the expected schedule and in fine condition.

I highly recommend both sources.

I hate to bring in bad news, but I had a terrible experience at Rt. 110 Home Furnishings.

Re: Furniture Nightmare!

Why hasn't anyone mention Seamans Furniture in this furniture threads?

I have had great experiences with them. Bought an entire living room sofa set & an king sized bed/mattress from them. Both from the 110 store.

Re: Furniture Nightmare!

Someone else just had a bad experience with Tiffany on 110 (I can't remeber who it was) I bought my kitchen set from the Tiffany on 112 in Medford. I had a crack in my table..I agree called and had someone come look at it and they replaced it. I didn't have to fight to get it replaced but the woman at their 'customer service' is not nice at all....

I have heard bad things about Seamans too but I got my livingroom set there and there were no problems with delivery or anything. My friend just got a dining room set and has a problem with her chairs and they won't replace them.

Its a 50/50 chance with anyplace......
