Are any of you concerned about the Hurricane Damage? FH and I just found the perfect spot, but were hesitant on booking b/c we're afraid the surrounding areas will not be 'back to normal' by end of June 06. Anyone else having 2nd thoughts or canceling all together?

Make sure you get traverls insurance. VERY IMPORTANT!!! It was only an extra $108 per person for us and SO WORTH IT!!!

We canceled ours (Royal Hideaway) and moved it to Acapulco. So glad we did, although things may be fine by next summer. Remember that summer there is hurricane season again, though...I would look elsewhere if you are worried.

It was one our list of places to go and we were highly considering it, but I'm so scared w/ the Gulf of Mexico in September so i think i have to scratch it off

I would be very careful about going to that region during may - november from now on, these hurricanes are crazy!

Re: Furture Riviera Maya Brides
We're going there the first week of May, hurricanes be damned!!!
Most of the time hurricane season doesn't get really bad until the tail end of it (September -October) so I think we will be safe in May.
I was looking into every place else, and while I was close to Aruba, Curacao and Barbados, I kept comparing every hotel I saw with Secrets Excellence, so I just went with it!!
BTW I have a co-worker who has a timeshare in the area, and they go every year. They said they build everything up so quickly that it's scary. That, and the area depends on tourism, so I would not be surprised if it is fine by next Spring.

We're planning to go there for our HM in July. I also heard that they rebuild everything really quickly. Is anyone staying in Aventura Spa Palace? Can anyone recommend a travel agent? Thanks!

We used In & Out Travel and they have been great. Basically got us the same pricing we would have gotten for ourselves online, if not cheaper!!
FM if you need anymore info. I also checked tripadvisor.com for reviews.
