My FH has been having a hard time at his job for the last few months, him and 7 other employees have been placed on a 90 day probation, well FH (who doesnt live with me yet) calls in sick to work today and will most likely lose his job if/when he goes back to his workplace...
He's acting as if this is NO big deal and like it'll be so easy to get another job!
Our deal was that we would work our butts off to pay bills, pay for our wedding and to save $ towards a place of our own for when the wedding gets closer.
I'm so fustrated right now that my hands are shaking and I don't know what to do or say!
any suggestions on how to handle this? if you dont want to post to the boards, please FM me.
thanks in advance

I have no suggestions in this case, but I just want to wish you good luck with this situation.

I would say (although it is hard when i don't know anything about you or your FH) trust him. He is an adult and hopefully he knows what he is doing and all will work out.

I really don't know what to say except that it might be for the better that he get a new job. He might like it better and may make more $$$. I wouldn't fight with him about it though. That might make it harder on both of you. As hard as it is, just try to be rational! I am sorry!

Re: fustrated with FH
People deal with tough situations in different ways. Maybe your FH has been stressed about his job situation, and this is his way of dealing with it. But I am like you - worrying, wondering why a backup plans is not already in place! I guess all you can do at this point is explain your concerns to him, maybe help him send out resumes, etc. If a few weeks pass and he hasn't woken up yet, it may be a bigger problem! Good luck.

That would really piss me off too! I'm sorry you have to worry about this in addition to wedding planning! It sounds like maybe he is more immature than you are (my FI is 28, but more immature than me at 25!). It is serious if he doesn't consider the consequences of his actions, especially now when they affect you both and your financial future together. Good luck!

Sorry you have to go thru this.
FH was unemployed for a spell and while I was upset and totally understand - I realised that he was miserable there, and that it happened for a reason. I know it is really hard to hear now because you are scared and this throws everything off,but it might be for the best. I am here to talk if you need me.

Hmm ... the only issue I'd have is that you made a deal to bust your butts working ... that's what would upset me.
The only advice I can give, is to be supportive and I speak from experience.

Re: fustrated with FH
I know you must feel frustrated and upset but maybe the stress and aggravation at work is not worth it to your FH. I started a new job after 4 years of being with 1 company and I absolutely and truly hated it. I was not sleeping at night. I thought I would give it at least 2 months and if by then I didn't like it I would leave. Well, I quit after 1 week without a job to follow that. I have never done anything like that my whole life. I am now working part time for medical benefits and am trying to start my own practice. Money is tight and FI and I are just being careful with our money. Things in life are not what you want or expect at times. I think this is something only your FH can decide what is right for him. Not being employed is temporary and IMO the money isn't worth the job sometimes and perhaps it is all for the better. Good luck to you both.
