Future Brides- Something to consider...

Re: Future Brides- Something to consider...

see now being in 5 weddings in one year---3x a MOH....sometimes ya just gotta say NO!

i know i would NEVER be able to do that---i would be straight up with the brides and say 'i'm sorry--its just too much for me to do'

ETA: i'm not sure how being interviewed for this article and mentioning how she wanted to say no to the bride and stuff...isn't much better than just having said no in the first place. if the bride sees what the friend said in the article--i'd think that would upset her more

See I kept these things in mind when I asked my BP especially my maid of honor because her daughter is also in the wedding as my junior BM. I picked an inexpensive place for dresses and such. i was adamant NO Bridal Shower or Bachlorette Party!!! I just didn't feel the need for these things also all of my BP is travelling from out of town some from out of country.

Yeah man, that's the truth!!! Thank God most of my friends are married and both of my BFF's are married. I'm not in danger of being in a wedding party any time soon!!!!

I was a BM at least 7 times and each time it cost me a lot of $$$$. One time, a close friend of mine apologized to me about not asking me to be a BM and I told her that $$ was tight and not to worry and she got mad at me....Now as a bride, I made sure that the dress and shoes were inexpensive
(less than $100 for the dress and I let them pick their own silver shoes- I showed them shoes that cost under $30); I told my sister to have the shower at her house to save $$; and I generally went out of my way to make things as inexpensive as possible. I even paid half of my sister's (MOH) dress because she is in such a terrible bind financially. I am the Anti-Bridezilla

This is why my mother, MOH (cousin) and aunt hosted my shower, I had a small local bach party with my closest friends at a long island bar, I picked dresses that were $165+ alterations (still a lot I think) and my mom and I footed the bill for their hair...makeup was optional and on them.

It was a lot for my girls to travel here to be in my wedding. Some of them went above and beyond. some of them were eh..but it's hard. i know and I've done it!!

Give your girls a break!! Who wants to buy at $300+ dress that they'll never wear again?!?!

My maid of honor is only twelve, she cant possibly provide me any type of financial help and i always thought that the person u choose for your MHO was supposed to be because they were special to you or something, i never knew that they were supposed to contribute to the wedding but if they can, then why not.

This is way I don't want a shower at a place - I want it at my mother's friends house. I am paying for half the girls dress as part of their gift. They were nice enough to say yes to enjoy the day now I can do my part

Same here. We had a MOH and a BM and that was it because we wanted it simple. They found inexpensive dresses and tuxes for the day and we helped with half the cost.
