Is everyone doing white gold or platinum for their hubbys? What a reasonable cost? We got a quote and were a bit surprised and wasnt sure if they were on target or way off base! Any help would be appreciated!

Our rings are yellow gold. MOst of the quotes we got, the men's rings were about twice the price, or at least 2/3 more the price of my ring and ir's because of the cost of gold. Horrible
I think we paid $1800 for both of our rings together, and they both have 1 ct of channel set diamonds... mine was around 700, and his was around 1100

our quote for a pretty plain wedding band was $410 for white gold, $1200 for platinum.

We went to Barrington Jewelers in Brooklyn on 86th street near 4th (I think) Avenue.
THey gave us a little extra off cause FH's family goes there all the time for everything, but I think the sale price on my ring was around 800 and FH's was $1400 which still wasn't terrible based ont he other prices we had been getting from other stores.
My best advice is don't go to Kay or Zales or Helzberg... or any other big chain. And if you don't want to go to BK, try the flea markets and the Jewelry Exchange in Commack, SO many people have told me to go there.

PS, all gold bands aren't created equal, so if that was a solid gold band, that $800 quote might not be a far off price. We're def paying more for the gold than the diamonds.

We went to a trustworthy jewlers. We may end up just going there to be honest! Gold prices are just nuts!

Fh's is gold in the middle and white gold on the edges. We paid 450 for his band and bought them from diamond roof @ tri county my band with channel setting and diamonds white gold for 850.

We got white gold for financial reasons. But we got a great deal! We got both for about $1100, mine with 12 round diamonds.

FH did want platinum until he got a sticker shock. He does want a celtic designed wedding band and the ones I have been finding come both in white gold and platinum and when I showed him the price difference he realized that maybe white gold would be best.

His band is platinum and it was $1000, they quoted us $350 for the same thing in white gold.
