Future In Law Vent

They are selling us a piece of land, and now their laywer never told them there would be capitl gain tax issues, and we were supposed to sign the contract this week.

So now we are trying to structure it as a tax free deal, adn I am going to kill them.

The professionals they call are morons, and they won't take what I say as the truth. They talk to a cpa that says that any gift over 10,000 is taxable.

Well the law changed and the gift aount went up to 11,000, like 2 or three years ago, hello get with the current tax law!!!!

I am a CPA and I just got my MASTERS IN TAX, why would i not know!!!!!!!!!

I just can't take it anymore!!!!!!!!

Send them something that states this law! They think of you as a young person without the same experience as their 'expert' lawyer.
And then, never buy anything from them again.

I fell like I am talking to toddlers sometimes.

If I didn't want my home so bad, i wouldn't even bother at this point, but we already signed the building contract.

If the property is in both their names, can't they each give the max (11,000) and give that amount to as many people as they want?- in other words they can each give 11,000 to you, and the same amount to your future husband, for a total of $44,000?

I have the same question as Karen, can't they give you up to $44K?
