so im ont he treadmill next to my fh and all the suden hes like 'oh yea' i forgot to tell you.. my mom ordered a cake topper for the wedding.' and im like what?!!? ok what is it and hes like 'i dunno?'
im a lil unsure how i feel about this. i mean its really nice butttt..... i neve even started to look at one i might like? hmmm.... advice? how should i feel?

I would thank her..if you like it use it..if not maybe put it next to the cake or use it during the rehersal dinner if you are having cake

It's a tricky situation. I would take it and hope that its great! But if you find one you like better, then don't worry. I'm sure she was only trying to be helpful. She won't be hurt if you use it at the rehearsal dinner or something.

i'd feel the same way you feel right now too...that is soooo nice of her, but i understand feeling like huh?? bc i like to pick out all my own stuff....but look at it from the positive side - its really cute that she's thinking of the wedding and trying to help you

I completely agree. I would probably feel the same way..especially because I don't even want a cake topper (just want to use flowers) and would feel obligated to use it! Maybe she bought it for you and your FH as a gift?? Kinda like how sometimes pple buy the toasting flutes or cake cutter as an engagement gift.

I'd be a little annoyed if it were my fmil, in my case she hasn't offered to help pay for anything BUT she definately gives her opinion on things ...

Do you think she was just trying to be cute/funny? That's something my FMIL might do as a silly joke. If she were serious, it might annoy me..buuuut sometimes we just have to grin and bear it I guess right?

ok ladies she sent me the link of her order... its not terrible but prob not what i wouldve bought whatever gotta pick n choose ur battles right? only thing is now i kinda have to revolve my whole cake around this thing?! its a glass heart tilted to the side (like on an angle i guess) that says our name and a monogram and date...

It doesn't sound too bad. It's kinda nice that she got it personalized. She was really just trying to do something nice for you. And you don't have to center everything around it necessarily.

I agree. You could totally use it at the rehearsal dinner if not something you were thinking of using.
