Future MIL Doesn't get it sometimes...lol!
I usually don't use forums or message boards to complain or gripe, but my future MIL is driving me a little batty. I really love her, and she has been very good about helping with costs, and treats me like her own daughter, but sometimes I feel like she doesn't get it, and I have to explain simple things to her 1,000 times. My patience is thin, since we are getting married 1 month from today, so I don't have time for extraneous BS.
The issue is the limo logistics. My fiance's family is from NJ, and since the wedding is on Long Island (where I'm from originally) they all have to get hotel rooms, which they have done. My parents have arranged for the limos for the bridal party to be taken to the church and then on to reception site; we will have 3 limos in total, since my dad and i (and then FH) will go on our own car separately.
The issue is that she keeps insisting on she and my future FIL will drive in their own car, and follow the limo to the church, and then back to the hotel (there is a couple hour gap between mass and reception). I told her if she wanted to do that, it's fine, but then we have arranged for a limo to pick up she and my future FIL at hotel to bring them to reception site, and will then come back at the end of the night to bring them from reception to their hotel.
She still keeps insisting on taking her own car, fearing that 'she won't have a way of getting back to the hotel,' and she is worried about her other relatives staying at the hotel and how they will get back. Um, they are all adults and have cars and GPS, they can find their way back.
It is continually frustrating to me everytime I have this discussion with her, and she keeps insisting on taking her own car. I mean who drives in their own car to their son's wedding, unless of course you aren't having limos...I just feel like she is trying to be difficult when we have so many other more important things going on...sorry about the long post, but just getting annoyed!!
