I am a BM in a fellow LIW bride's wedding this fall and I just got measured for the dress. Now mind you the saleswoman said that Jim Hjelm dresses tend to run very small, but I had no idea just how much.
I wear a street size 12 and had to order a size 20!!! I nearly cried!!! My own wedding gown that I wore 2 months ago was a size 14 and only had to be let out an inch in the bust!!
So if you are getting any Jim Hjelm dresses, especially satin, just forewarn your BMs, especially those that just want to guess their dress size!!!

ohh wow ~ that is a difference...I had that for my cousins wedding ~ I am normally a 10/12 and I had to get a size 18 I nearly fainted on the floor....

I wore a Jim Hjelms BM dress last Nov. The taffita dresses only run 1 size bigger. So i ended up getting a size 4. But we were forwarned by the store

Bill Levkoff dresses run big.....I got a size 8 for my friends wedding (I'm normally a 6) & I got it and it fell off but for my sisters wedding I got a size 8 and it fit me perfectly (i forget which designer hers was)

I'm a BM in a friend's wedding and had the same thing. My mom actually started arguing with the girls at the store because she kept saying 'There's NO WAY she wears that size!!!' I had to calm HER down!!! It is a little shocking to have to order 4 or more sizes larger, but I was told JH dresses were made for younger girls who have no bodies and runway models

That happened to my sister, she had to order a size 20 and she had to pay $50 extra for the bigger size.

yea and there is no way my sisters is a size 20, u could fit 2 of her in that dress. My mom flipped out and they gave her some money off of the alterations.

Thanks for posting this! Most of the dresses that I've seen and really liked have been jim heljm. It 's a good thing to know before ordering! I had to get measured for a Vera Wang dress once (that we didn't end up ordering but that's a story for another time) and they wanted to order me a size 22 and charge me an extra $40 because it was a 'bigger size' At the time I wore a street size 12!

Yes....I had to pay an extra $30 because of the size....
My only hope is that since I have now been ordered by 2 doctors to lose weight, that they will have to order me a smaller dress by the time the wedding gets close.
It makes not much sense to me because my girls wore Jim Hjelm also (but chiffon) and the sizes only seemed about 2 sizes smaller, not 4!!!

Don't worry!! Jordan dresses measure normal to 2 sizes smaller!!!
my bm is a 12 accross the board measured a 8!

That would be the exact reason, so they make more money, it stinks! I wear a 14/16 and my dress was ordered in a 20 I knew they ran small, I just wasn't excpecting that!
