So, my old roommate got engaged a few months ago, right? Well, they're still looking for a venue for next october (a virginia wedding) and so i've been looking.
It's opened up a whole new world of weddings for me! Virginia has got some beautiful old plantations and manor houses - I love it!
I think I want 2 weddings now... I can have one for my NY family/friends... and then another for my virginia family/friends.
really, i'm just trying to make it more convinient for everyone

i would love this - i have three or four versions of a weddng in my head!!
My FSIL had a NY wedding and then a party in West Virginia for all their friends who could not make it. They rented a cabin in the woods and we went nuts having the 'casual' version of their wedding - lots of beer and barbecue, it was awesome!

i hear ya, Deb. I would have loved to have a wedding in the philippines for my family that couldn't make it to this one.

I actually went to a wedding in Virginia - I forget the name of the place - it was in Alexandria....George Washington something??? It was very nice!

That definitely sounds like a great idea, you could have a more laid back day, and hey you get to wear your WONDERFUL dress again.!!!

I plan on having a Cali wedding for those who couldn't be there. I want a bash on the beach with kegs and volleyball. This was the wedding I really wanted all along.

now thats more like it Christine!!! That sounds so fun. My original dream for the wedding was a clambake on the beach with a big ol bonfire and band....
...maybe when we renew our vows in 10 years!!

That would be so cool, two weddings. My friend had two, a destination one and then one back home. It was as if her wedding lasted 3 months!!! I wish mine could last that long.

Hi,
I live in DC and was thinking about having my wedding in DC/MD/VA, too. I ended up deciding to have it in NY but when I was researching places down here, I found a place called Woodend Mansion in Chevy Chase, MD. It is run by the Audobom society. It looks beautiful.
