Gals with PCOS

Original post by jsta76

I'm looking for a new gyno and hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Preferably it would be in Suffolk.

I'm not sure if there is really anyone that specializes but i'm concerned especially since I know that we may TTC in the next year or so. So many dr's still don't even know what PCOS is. I'm just not crazy about my current one.

TIA!

Just to let everyone know, there is a website-

nydoctorprofile.com

You can look up all types of info for doctors you see or plan on seeing. It tells where they went to school, any legal actions against them, etc.

I see Dr. Ninia in Port Jeff. I really like him. He always explains what will happen first, then as he is doing things he lets me know what he's doing, what I'll be feeling etc. If you want his info. I can look it up for you.

I have PCOS but I haven't been to a gyno in years. My condition actually got a little better when I had my son 5 years ago.

It's such a relief when I hear about woman that have babies that have PCOS...in the past the dr has told me it will be really difficult. I know I haven't gotten pregnant so far Not that I was really trying but I have made mistakes..

I was just thinking the same thing. I get so upset when i see 'infertility' slapped on everything related to PCOS..makes me so sad. But i do know people who havent gotten preggers wth it..so theres hope for us!

Thanks, it definetely is frustrating to say the least. In my process I think i've been on every single BCP there is out there and have had problems. Either the pain is way too severe or I get migraines or other thngs...The doctor put me on Seasonique which confuses me since they say you're supposed to have it every month??

If I don't take anything, i simply don't get my period.

have you tried Loestrin?? Its the only one that works for me. I've been on it for a year now. I tried about 5 or 6 different BCP and none of them worked at all

It's funny because I was on it for a few years maybe 7-8 years ago and didn't have problems. Then I started taking Glucophage and it was helping me, plus at the time I was single and not doing anything so I stopped the BCP completely. I restarted after I met FH and had problems on it this time around. I was on it and several others for about 6 months at a time.

I was tested for diabetes and thankfully it showed i didnt have it, but they wanted me to go on Glucophage anyway. I said no i'll just stick it out (cause i was younger at the time) and after being on nothing and never ever getting my period, and after trying all different BCP, i finally stumbled on Loestrin and its the only one that works lol I remember back in the day when I would tell my mom that I havent had my period in 9 months she would FREAK out! haha little did she know i had a major problem lol

I'm the same exact way, I'd go months at a time without my period and I have many of the other symptoms but my blood sugar was NEVER an issue. I don't have diabetes but unfortunately it's in my family, so chances are extremely high that I could have it in the future (I'm paranoid that it will show up in pregnancy). For a while I think my doctor was completely baffled.

I went on glucophage and immediately noticed a difference. It helped me lose weight until stupid me stopped taking it (i'm sooooooooo bad with medicine). I started again as well.

I had a really great endo that I went to a few years ago but unfortunately I haven't been back to her since my insurance changed and I moved further east. She's all the way in NHP so its almost imposssible to see her.

Right now i'm focusing on finding a Gyn.
