Garden City Gazebo

Garden City Gazebo

My church is having an event the same day of our wedding and can not move the time up (as a matter of fact I swore our ceremony was at 4pm and when we revisited the church to hand in our pre-cana certificate and finalize the rehearsal date I was reminded it was at 4:30!!! Our cockatail hour is scheduled to start at 6:30. )

We will not have as much time as we would like to take pics. We had planned on going to OWG or the planing fields in Oyster Bay. Everyone immediately says I won't have time, but the suggestions I have received instead truly turned me into the bridezilla I do not want to be!!

Anyway, the first suggestion I have received and seems reasonable was the Garden City Gazebo. He said it was a lovely place to take pics especially in the spring. FH and I drove by the gazebo on our way home from our appt. We sighed in relief that it wasn't a disaster as the other suggestions were!

What do you think??

My brother and SIL had their photos taken at the GC gazebo...it was ok, except that it was late October and it was cold there! Since it was October, and we left the church at around 5ish, it was starting to get dark, so alot of the photos didn't come out great (I blame the photographer for that...I didn't like many of his photos).

Since you're getting married in May, you should be ok in tems of light...just get your BM shawls in case it's cold!

I have passed by many times. It's very nice. I am getting married at St. Pauls Cathedral which is like 5 minutes from there and I've heard that a lot of St. Pauls brides take pics there.

Cool!!!! I'm not stopping anywhere to take pics cuz I wanna try and get it done in time for my CH. My RH should have plenty of good photo -ops. Plus St. Pauls is beautiful for pics as well.

Thanks! I tried googling images but nothing great came up! I picked the RH not considering grounds for pics, they do have photography rooms, but I really wanted outdoor pics.

depending when your wedding is, be prepared for a LONG WAIT!!! I know someone who wanted to go there and there were 10 brides ahead of her...there is no set times. I wouldnt chance it, they ended up taking pics in the street

I might have to take my chances! I am going to email my photographer to see what she thinks. My limo rep actually suggested the place to me when we were discussing time frames!

no problem! It's pretty small, it really is just a little walkway with a gazebo but good photographers can do amazing things with a small space. You'd never know it was as small as it was when you look at my pics

Yea its a great location 100% there is just no scheduled time frames for brides...its first come first serve, so if you get there, and no one is there, thats perfect, but your day your getting married is one of the most popular on this board...

If there are alot of brides ahead of you and you have to get to the RH, you cant just cut in front of them...some brides may take their time, to get the right pics with their photogs

I work down the block from GCG. Pass it everyday. It is pretty and could definitely work for pics, but is basically just a gazebo in the middle of the sidewalk in front of the train station and across from the GC hotel. I'd be concerned about other brides waiting for it like one of the other brides mentioned.

At your RH they have an outdoor area where they have cocktail hours and ceremonies. Can you take pics out there?

(we looked at CB for our wedding and it was our runner up choice...ended up with woodbury b/c of the grounds for pics, but you never know with weather...i have second guessed my decision a million times over b/c CB has so many great spots to take indoor pics.)

I live a few seconds down the road from the GCG and I pass by it about 49573495 times a day...its such a nice place to take pics!!! They always keep the lawn very nicely manicured and i've seen it many times with wedding parties taking pics there, they look beautiful. I think it would be a lovely place to take your pics

LOVE THAT PLACE. I will be going there as well.

What about Farmingdale College. I am taking my photos in the Gardens, and let me tell you its amazing. Over 10 acres and just beautiful. I saw it this past November and I was amazed.

I was just going to say I think Chateau Briand has some areas where you can take pictures. The outside and inside of Chateau Briand is really nice, so even if you can't take the pics at GCG, you can always get right over to the reception hall and take nice pics there!
