will anyone be using or has anyone used gardenias for their wedding? I am thinking of having them float in water for the centerpieces. Will they brown quickly that way? Has anyone used them in bouquets? I know I have to talk to my florist, but I can't wait that long!!

Re: Gardenias
Gardenias are gorgeous for weddings. I havent decided yet if I will be using them. I might - my mom had a gardenia bouquet - and they only brown quickly if they are handled rough and to much bec they bruise easily. Your florist will be better help - just wanted to say that they are very classy and elegant!

Re: Gardenias
I have a website where you can order these floaters and they ship them to you overnight. I'll try to find the info and send it to you. I need to locate it since I'm planning on ordering them soon myself.
I do not know how long they last, good question!!!!!

Re: Gardenias
My bk is all gardenias and I was concerned about the same thing (plus the heat). Florist told me they spray them and also is giving me an insulated box to place them in when I'm outside for pictures. I'll try to let you know Monday the 18th - - just FM me because I probably will forget.

Re: Gardenias
I love gardenias, too! My mom carried 3 Gardenias as her 'bouquet' and my bouquet was gardenias, stephanotis, some white peonies and a few white baby roses, I loved it! My bouquet lasted the night. I don't think if you want to save it it would be good, but I was not planning on saving my bouquet. Hope this helps!

Re: Gardenias
that is so funny/coincidental you said that!
I had a dream (I am constantly dreaming about the wedding these days) and in it the centerpieces were 5 foot long glass 'troughs' and the glass was distressed (ie: had bubbles in it) and were filled with water and glass pebbles and gardenias and floating candles. Now I think I want something like that but no idea where to find the troughs and I don't want the added stress of going from florist to florist or nurseries to find 20+ of them, since I'd have to buy them and if I ever find them I'm sure they'll be $$$$$. But I looooove the idea. No clue if they brown quickly or not. But your place will smell WONDERFUL if you do it.

Re: Gardenias
I had floating gardenias for our cocktail tables, and gardenias on my cake.
They brown quickly only if you touch them.

Re: Gardenias
It's through my hall (WCC) I believe it's Roma Bakery - - he told me but I forgot. I love our cake! My florist (Jack & Rose) is providing all the gardenias for the cake.

You can also order them at www.freshroses.com if you want to get them separate from your florist.
