Garment Bag

Garment Bag

Hi girls, I picked up my dress already (7 months before my wedding). I have heard that it is not good to leave the dress in the plastic garment bag that david's bridal had sold to me. What should I do with my dress? Any other ideas on how to keep it safe?

TIA

Why would it not be a good idea to keep it in the garment bag? Just curious, never heard that before. I would assume because it gets wrinkled, but I would rather have it somewhat wrinkled then have something get on it.

I heard that if you keep it in a plastic bag, the dress may begin to get that plastic-y smell. I was going to wrap it with a sheet or something but I just was curious if anyone has heard this before?

Oh, okay, I'm interested to hear if anyone has any input as well!

Hm, is it plastic or a thicker almost polyester material?

I'd call David's Bridal and ask them.

I'd store it in the same type of material like bag of a fur coat...if that makes any sense at all...

I read somewhere that you could get a big box to put it in. Like the ones they preserve your dress in. First, wrap it in a plain white cotton sheet and then store it in the box. Of course, you'll still have to hang it a few days before to get the wrinkles out.
