garter question

this might be a silly question but...

are you supposed to wear your garter all day? or do you put it on before the ceremony or before the garter toss?

my dress is very form-fitting and i feel like any garter, no matter how small, would be lumpy underneath.

also, i want to get one that's black and purple (my wedding colors), so i feel like you might even be able to see the colors through my white dress!

I'm in the same boat, I have a mermaid/trumpet dress and an Islanders garter so dark blue and orange...definitely would see at least the bump through the dress, if not also the colors.

Now I'm getting a slip to wear under my dress, so what I *might* do it wear the garters under the knee instead of above the knee, because with the extra poof of the slip I don't think you'll see the bump or colors. Or I might still just put it on right before the removal and toss, but I fear that I'll forget to even bring them if I'm not wearing them!
