I will be having an Indian ceremony- and will have some very conservative relatives from India here. I will be doing the bouquet toss and wanted to find an alternative to the garter toss as that will embarrass me greatly. Any suggestions?

Re: garter toss alternative
Here's a suggestion that my brother and sister-in-law did at their wedding. Neither of them wanted the toss or garter 'fiasco.' Nor do I. My sister in law presented her bouquet to her grandmother. [I will be presenting mine to my mother and then we'll dance a slow song together. She doesn't know this though.] My brother presented his best man [who was to be married next] with a bottle of champagne. I thougth it was very classy.

You can do the anniversary dance. That is what we are doing it! I think it is much nicer to celebrate the love of others that have endured.

Re: garter toss alternative
I did the anniversary dance too, and it was successful.
The longest married couple got the garter/bouquet, and my uncle had to put it on my aunt,
At least they know each other, and they LOVED it

Re: garter toss alternative
We are playing each of our parent's wedding song, having them dance and then presenting each mother with a bouquet and each father with a garter.

Re: garter toss alternative
These are all great suggestions. I know I will do the bouquet toss bc all my bridesmaids want to catch the bouquet. With the garter, I just don't want to make a show of it with him removing it from my leg. I read somewhere that a groom threw the bride's handkerchief with her initials on it that was weighed down w/ some almonds inside of it or something - what do you think of this? Any other ideas along these lines?

Re: garter toss alternative
you can have the him throw the garter, and th ewinner gets a bottle of champagne, or wine, or even a gift certificate.
For kids, you can have a candy toss. or a bear bride/groom toss for the little ones. Hope that works.

If I do the garter toss, I don't want to make a whole production of him removing it from my leg. Would that be okay?

Tht is fine...right before you hand it to someone you can go to the ladies rooma nd take it off before hand if you dont want to make a whole production

Re: garter toss alternative
Dumb question...During the anniversary dance, does the bride and groom just stand on the side?
