We weren't going to do the garter toss because we want to avoid any problems where a guy has to put it on the leg of someone else's girlfriend (I've heard fights start that way!)...but I'm wondering if anyone did it this way...groom takes garter off bride's leg and just tosses it. The winner doesn't have to put it on anyone's leg. Or should we just not do it all together? I feel bad if we just did a bouquet toss and nothing for the guys. Thoughts?

Re: garter toss question
I've been to weddings like that. If that is what you want to do, go for it. But, I wouldn't worry about the guys feeling left out - I doubt they'd notice or care. It's really up to you!

I've been to a few weddings like that. That seems like a fair way if your trying to avoid any fights.

Re: garter toss question
It's perfectly fine to do the toss withOUT the 'put it on the girl who caught the bo-k' part. In fact, I prefer it this way!!!
I will either do it like that, or we'll do a twist where the girl who caught the bo-k will put the garter on the guy who caught it, And we won't be mentioning it beforehand so I'm sure the guy's expression will look something like this:

A little diff. spin- At my cousing wedding, they blindfolded the guy who caught the garter. Then my cuz, the groom ,sat in the chair and put a knee high on and the guy thought he was putting the garter on the girl the whole time. It was hilarious!

Re: garter toss question
trust me, these traditions are meant for the girls... If you're only debating a garter toss to keep the guys 'included', drop it.... the guys don't care about it at all.

i like the idea of spinning the tradition around and doing something different. These are great ideas!
