So FH and I are still tossing around the idea of whether or not we want to do the whole bouquet toss and garter toss....personally i think its kinda cheezy, but it is tradition...I wanted to do *something*, if not that in particular, but the only other option we have heard of is giving the bouquet to the couple married the longest. Have you seen or heard of anything else done in place of this?

Re: Garter/Bouquet Toss
FH and I are doing an anniversary dance. Basically you play a song and all the couples dance and then the dj slowly asks them to leave the floor based on how long they've been together and in the end the couple married the longest gets the bouquet.
I am giving my bo-k to my grandma who will be celebrating her 60th wedding anniversary with my gramps the month before our wedding...we will make an announcement about that and ask them to join us for a dance to one of our favorite songs...(along with anyone else who'd like to dance)
as far as other ideas instead of the toss (which i also 'refuse' to do...lol) ...i guess you can be creative and do anything.....
you can keep your bo-k and preserv it...and give away a smaller one...by doing the anniversary dance thing....have all married couples get up to dance......have the mc...or band leader say 'those married under 5 years please sit...then those under 10...and continue until 1 couple is standing.....
or you can just present it to your mom or moh and make a little speech

The ideas above are cute I won't be doing the garter or bo-k toss, but I also won't be replacing the time with anything else. Just more dance time! I don't think anyone will really notice or care

I love that, especially if you have a couple who has been married a very long time. I am tossing the bouquet because if I don't my MOH will mutiny, but if I wasn't that would be my alternative plan.

The anniversary dance is always nice to see at a wedding. FH and I decided we are not doing the garter/bouguet toss. More dancing time...

Re: Garter/Bouquet Toss
We're doing an anniversary dance, which is what you're talking about I think. We won't have many single people at the wedding, so doing the garter toss is pointless.
