what does the blusher symbolize??

i was just going to ask what a blusher was?

It goes back to old times where a Father would sell his daughter for a dowry. Included in that is virginity and ownership and all of those ancient ideals.

Most people don't believe in that kind of thing anymore, but my mom is like an ULTA feminist, so she won't let me forget where some of these traditions come from.

Bouquet toss yes.
Garter toss no.

I'm toying with the idea of rather than getting a toss-away bouquet, I'd buy a bunch (like 50) of scratch-off tickets and make a bouquet out of that and this way, the single guys can also get in on the toss and someone will hopefull walk away with some $$$. We shall see.

I am not doing it because a few years ago my a$$hole idiot brother caught the garter AFTER I caught the bouqet - he wasn't paying attention. I was so embarressed I punched him in the stomach in front of everyone and my dad yelled at him. So no garter toss for us...

ETA: This was at my cousins wedding and is on film for everyone in the family to rememeber forever

I hate my brother...

Oh my God!! That is hysterical!!

At my cousin's wedding, her brother and SIL apparently did not find it important enough to tell their 7 and 9 year old daughters not to participate in the BOK toss and the 9 year old caught the BOK!!

I'm not a fan of the garter toss for our wedding because FH's family is very conservative Muslim. The idea of one of our drunken idiot male friends catching the garter and one of his sweet teenage cousins catching the bouquet is just a little too... for us.
It's not something that we feel MUST be included in the wedding, so opting not to have it for the sake of everyone being comfortable is fine with FH and I.
