I guess this is more of a vent than a question...

If I was in your position, I would totally not even worry about it. Unless you fear your family will carry him away and burn him at the stake on the spot (I hope not!), I would make it the least of your worries. As for the pics, see how it is...I mean if this is your uncle's significant other then of course include him in. I'm sure your uncle would be very honored and touched. But, it is your day and if you are uncomfortable with that, you can graciously avoid it as well. I'm sure it will turn out to be a non-issue in regards to what expectations that he has of you that day. Try not to let it get you nervous....with it being the 21st century, I'm sure it's more & more commonplace. Thanks for sharing it here,it's evidence of the ever-growing variety of wedding topics :o)

Don't feel too bad. I am in a similar situation. About a month ago, my Fiance's brother 'came out of the closet' to both of us. Apparantly, the immediate family knew for quite a while. My Fiance was immediately distraught because this put quite a wall in between them. He was going to make his brother the best man but now we don't even know if he will even be in the wedding party. He has a real open problem with the Catholic church now that he came out.

On the bright side, they seem to be getting along better now after a month so maybe things will smooth over before next year.

Gay Uncle - Thank You!

Thank you, everyone for posting about our Gay Uncle! You're right, it won't be a big deal amidst everything, and if anybody has a problem, it'll be THEIR problem...

Actuallly, it is not me or my Fiance who are planning on changing anything in the wedding. My fiance's brother, himself, decided that he may not want to be in the wedding party and come to the church. I am trying to talk him into it again because I really want him in the wedding. Hopefully, everything will work out okay and he will stand up with us on our wedding day. We really want him to be there.

Thanks! I have been trying to support him as much as possible. Unfortunately, my fiance is going to have to work some of this out now himself. I think things are smoothing out. They actually talked on the phone yesterday for quite a while and my FI bought him a nice birthday present.

I'm sure everything will turn out just fine.
