Hey girls- I seriously need to get my butt in shape and lose 20-30 lbs by July. My friend just gave me her Gazelle and i tried it today but no luck. It seems really easy and i dont break a sweat at all. Am I doing something wrong or does it just not work I dont have a dvd for it. If anyone has a gazelle- did you get results and what did you do to make it seem like it works? I just run or 'glide' on it. Thanks

Re: Gazelle question
Hi. I'm a circuit coach at a gym (my part-time job), and my friend gave me her Gazelle. I thought the exact same thing until I started using it with the dvd's. As soon as I did that, with the help of Tony Little, I sweat my butt off whenever I have time to use it. It's a fantastic workout, if you follow the dvd. The dvd is great. You would never know all the different ways you could use it and how hard you can push.
I'm a circuit trainer at Curves, btw, and ladies go through the same things there. They don't get a good workout when they don't realize that they just aren't working as hard as they should be. I lost 30 pounds going to Curves my senior year of high school. After that, it felt really easy for me. Then, I got a job there and watched some special dvd's for staff development. With resistance-training workouts, you can always get a good workout, as long as you take ownership and make the choice to work your butt off. Even if it doesn't feel like there's too much resistance, you can usually be going faster or getting a fuller range of motion. I know some people get bored of the monotony of a certain type of workout, and that's a different story. You just have to get your heart-rate up and make sure you are sweating!
Anyway, in conclusion, you should totally get the dvd if you can! Tony is hysterical and very motivating!

Re: Gazelle question
My sister has one and lost a lot of weight doing it 3x a week for about 30 minutes. You don't break a sweat but its kind of the same effect as walking.

Re: Gazelle question
I have a gazelle and love it! Its great for an arm and leg workout while doing cardio. If I'm consistent I see results. And I've ALWAYS done it to the DVD. It keeps you on speed and he does intervals so you feel it more.
If you're doing the different excersizes correctly and working out consistently, you should see results.

Bend your knees slightly at all times. You should be resting your legs on the platforms and using your thighs and leg muscles to hold you up and glide if that makes any sense.

Re: Gazelle question
We have a gazelle...I don't use it very often, in fact, my father put it outside...because that makes sense.
But when I do use it, I use it for the sole purpose of getting my blood flowing and increasing my heart rate...when I feel like I've been sitting too long and I've been too lazy. Other than that, I don't feel it does anything in either direction for me...I don't lose weight, but I don't gain either, I don't tone, I don't feel much...and I change up the angles and whatnot so I'm definitely doing it 'right'.
For me, it's strictly a cardio thing...nothing more.
