Georgios vs Villa Lombardis

Georgios vs Villa Lombardis

Hi there all. I have narrowed my MAJOR search down to 2 places (Georgios at Fox Hollow and Villa Lombardis). Two places with many similarities but also some major differences. Any opinions. I love Georgios ballroom but everything else is ok. I love Villas everything else but the ballroom is ok and they have another wedding at the same time.
Help!

Ive been to weddings at both and they were both fabulous. I can see what you're saying about both places. Also take into account the distance between the two. Do you want to be more out east? Do you want to be more in central suffolk? Are you okay with having 2 weddings at a time? I will say the only thing i didnt like about the cocktail hour at giorgios was the seating. It was L-shaped so guests who were sitting one one side were kind of excluded from the rest of the guests. They did have a lot of people though. Either way i dont think you can go wrong. Both places were gorgeous, the food at both was phenomenal, and the service was great at both! Good luck!

I am a Giorgios bride, and I have been to Villa Lombardis many times since I live about 3 minutes from it. I don't think the two places are similar at all. The setting for Giorgios is much nicer. Its set back off the road and the views are spectacular. Villa is on main street, not much to look at it. Also I think there is a huge difference in the food quality. I didn't look at Villa for my wedding simply because I find it to be over done but that is just my opinion. You get so much for your money out in Giorgios as well. I am biased of course because my wedding is at Giorgios but I would rate a lot of other RH over Villa.

I've never been to a wedding at Villa Lombardi's...so I cant comment on it. But my thoughts on Giorgio's...

-- The food is amazing. And they let you do a tasting before booking which is a major plus. And the cocktail hour is out of this world...with so many extras that would normally be additional money

- The location is gorgeous. It's set away from any main roads...with the benefits of a golf course on one side and the beach on the other.

- If you didnt know, they are renovating the entry way. So it will be even more beautiful with a larger staircase and foyer. And by the looks of everything else...they dont skimp...so I think it will be amazing. They went above and beyond with the outdoor area this year...shipped in a gazebo from Italy.

- George is very easy to work with. Between my Dad and I, we probably called him a 100 times, and visited at least 5 before booking. He never seemed anoyed and is always super helpful

- Both my sister and brother went to wedddings at Giorgio's and raved about it. So did a VP at my job...whose job is focused on customer service and hospitality...so I know his opinion is quality

Just my thoughts. I've heard great things about both...but I can only talk 1st hand about Giorgios.

Well I looked at both places and ended up booking with Villa Lombardi's. I have a lot of opinions (both good and bad) about both. FM if you want more information.

As you can see, I am biased... but here is my opinion:

I didn't consider Villa for a few (silly) reasons. 1- I live right around the corner and my church is around the block too. I didn't want everything so close. I wanted the long limo ride to the RH. 2- I went to Villa for sports / hs dinners and I wanted to have my wedding someplace I've never been to before. Anyway, Villa's lobby is gorgeous! I love the marble floors and I kinda wish my RH looked like that. But I wanted to book a RH with only one wedding at a time (check!), had someplace near a beach for pics (check!), had a reception room with high ceilings (check!). Villa's food is really good though... I love dining at Mamma Lombardi's. Hmm... it really seems like you can't go wrong with either. You said you prefer Giorgio's reception room... and that is where you will spend the most time. Maybe that can help you. I'm not crazy over their lobby either (and had no idea they were going to renovate.. is that true?) Also, I don't know about Villa but another reason we booked Giorgio's was because they had a reasonable minimum for a summer Saturday night. In case that is also an issue with you.

Anyway, go over your list of pro's and con's. Think about it. Good luck with your choice and let us know when you make a decision!

George Sr. originally told me about the lobby renovations. I believe renos will start in Jan. Not 100% sure, but I believe that is what I was told.

Re: Georgios vs Villa Lombardis

I am a Giorgio's Bride (wedding was 6/21/08) and have a TON of great things to say about the food, the place the service, everything. My guests were BLOWN away to say the least. The ballroom is pretty and like someone else said and the views are gorgeous. Plus you have the beach to take pictures at which is a plus. (Pictures were important to me)

Anyway - I did not look at Villa or consider it...only because I had been to proms there and sports dinners, etc and I just am not crazy about the location or the grounds. Giorgio's is very secluded and they have gorgeous grounds and plenty of great photo opps. Also I only wanted 1 wedding at a time.

Anyway - I highly recommend it and dont have anything negative to say. They were nothing but great to work with. Please FM me if you want any more info.

My wedding is in Jersey....but FYI the 'lombardis' own Lombardi's so it is very family owned!

Not having my wedding at either, but I have been to a wedding at Giorgios. The wedding was fabulous. My only complaint was it was a day wedding and they really rushed us out for the next one to start. But no biggie! It sounds like most people chose one or the other b/c of their personal history. People mentioned proms at Lombardi's. My FH had his prom at Giorgios's, so he would probably lean to Lombardi;s. Choose where you feel most comfortable..

I've heard wonderful things about both, but if you are looking for scenery with the same great food as Lombardi's, did you check out Lombardi's on the Sound? (Same owners) I may be biased bc I am getting married there, but I wanted a place on the water, with the great food and reputation of Lombardi's...it has a great water view. Something to think about....

You won't regret it! We got married there two weeks ago, and it was beautiful. They are great at what they do, and your guest will love the food! Congrats!
