Get this...

Get this...

...I have a cooky aunt (mom's sis), she's very status conscious and coincidentally a 'functioning' (I use the term loosely) alcoholic. I think the booze has finally eaten her last brain cell because get a load of this...

Well as you can see by my profile I am having a Saturday afternoon wedding. Aunt finds out my mom's dress is beaded and calls me up to say that it's too much for a day wedding.

I tell her that while it does take place during the day, I don't want people showing up thinking that business casual attire was ok.

She goes, well I'm coming in business casual attire and if you don't like it, I won't give you a gift. Believe me, it's not the gift I care about.

I tell her that I would gladly do without the gift if she was appropriately attired. To which I got no response.

I just want to vent, this woman took 6 months to acknowledge my engagement, I still have not heard congratulations escape her mouth and now she says this. She does not know when to leave well enough alone.

Thanks ladies for listening.

Can't choose our family! You seem like you have a good attitude about it. Good luck! She will be the one who looks out of place in business casual attire at the Carlyle on the Green...

Awww..people can be so ridiculous. Why they insist on voicing their opinions when they were not asked always astounds me.

Take a deep breath and remember...don't sweat the small stuff...and ignore the little people!

It stinks that you have to deal with 'cooky' people who have no tact or idea of how much goes into wedding planning and marriage.

What are you going to do if she shows up in casual clothes?

Re: Get this...

Cooky might not be the word...sound like an interesting situation. I have an aunt who hasn't called or sent cards for my birthday but the mintue she found out I was engaged she wanted to make my shower favors...does that make sense? There's always one in the family!

Re: Get this...

Don't let her get to you!!! Unfortunately, we can not choose our family, but you can sure as H*** decide whether or not you want to be bother with them. I did not invite a lot of my family members due to various reasons. First of all, I have no patience and no tolerance for nonsense; therefore, I pick and choose who I feel like being bothered with. Just b/c we are family does not insure us that we would get along. SO hold your head up high and forget all about it. She may be a little jealous of your happiness. Misery loves company. In her case JOHNNIE WALKER.

I have a family member who most of the time dress a little trampy. We might be having our ceramony at a temple and I pray she doesn't dress trampy for the temple.

Tell your aunt if she shows up in biz casual, there will be no booze!
Isnt it amazing how people use the gift as a way to levarage control over some aspect of your wedding?

My Aunt said that If I gave out CD's as favors they werent coming because....(are you ready?) ---the majority of people dont have CD players. Needless to say, my Mom has convinced me to now not do CD favors.
I dont know who's crazier-- my aunt or my Mom for listening to her!

You sound like you can laugh about the situation, and that's all that matters! And I like your thank you pic idea!
