Get this (sorry it is long)

My fmil backed us into a corner in April making us have his sister in the wedding. I was annoyed but knew it was the right thing to do. It is our wedding. The last two days FI has been really stressed out and not sharing why. Tonight I found out why. His mother wants no part of the bridal party or bridal responsibilities. His mom wants what she wants and what ever else doesn't concern her agenda she wants no part of it. FI told his mom that when she made us have his sister the bridal shower was part of the responsibility, plus I am going to be her only daughter in law. We get home. I check my email just now and his mom emails me at 10:00 tonight telling me that they are backing out of the wedding.... Do you believe this! I feel bad for FI!! I cannot believe his mom!!!

OMG! Sounds extremely annoying...BUT you are probably better off-now you their input will mean even less!

So sorry. I truly believe things happen for a reason though so just keep on enjoying the planning and I'm sure things will work out.

Backing out of the wedding as in they're not coming or backing out as in they don't wany any part of any responsibilities???

That's a tough call. Maybe you should have FH talk to her and let her know how important it is to him to have her involved. However, as everyone knows, you can bring a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, so if this is her decision, then just go on and plan things the way YOU TWO would want it.

In some ways, it might work to your advantage because less opinions to deal with.

Thanks girls. I am just annoyed. Like I said we forced to ask his sister to be in the wedding and now that she (fmil) doesn't want to throw a party with my girls she has her daughter drop out. Unbelievable. His mother is extremely selfish. She was never a mother to him and didn't raise him. Sorry girls I just needed to Vent!!!

I'm sure it is aggravating but I think in the long run you will be better off without having to deal with them.

Eww.. I dont know what I would do in a situation like that. Hey.. If thats what she wants, then so be it, you know??? Come the wedding day, she will regret not being involved.

I am sorry this happened! Just tell yourself that you are better off. If she was never a mother to him and can be that selfish, then you don't need her helping you out.

I'm really sorry that you and your FI even had to deal with this train wreck of a situation!! You sound like you getting one hell of a MIL!!! Good luck and I'm sure now that they are out of the picture things will be a lot smoother for the two of you.

small aggravation now versus the MONTHS of aggravation she has unknowingly saved you! it seems you got off easy....sorry for FH- it must hurt him in some way, but she sounds like a real winner....sounds like she did you a big favor.

Unfortunatly, some people are just very selfish. At least now you can have who you want in your wedding. I have a feeling your FMIL is not the easiest person to get along with, so good luck.

I am so sorry. I am going through some issues with my own mother though.
It really puts a lot of hurt and stress into something that was supposed to be fun and a happy celebration.

Thanks ladies. I really appreciate it. Today I was more sad for FI. I feel bad for him. His mother *****... All she is doing is building a bigger gap between her and her son. It is nice to see how she doesn't want to be any part of this wedding. Although she presented my parents with a guest list of 79 people, yeah right like she will get that many.
