My mom is treating me to a facial today! I'm so excited. I've never had one though... any ideas what I should expect?
I have breakout prone skin, so I'm psyched to see what this does for it... if it makes it look nicer, then I might consider doing one before the wedding. Is anybody else thinking about doing this?
eta: Ok, so I've been and am back. It was different than I expected - my mom goes to this woman, and she said that hers was pretty relaxing. However, I have much more problematic (blemish prone) skin than my mom, so, as the woman said, mine was 'less pampering, more clinical.' Right now my face is kind of red, and there are lots of red spots where she did a lot of squeezing and poking, but I definitely feel a difference, even though it looks kind of wierd right now. My face just feels a lot cleaner, and when I touch it it's a lot smoother, and when I look at it, looking past the redness, the skin definitely looks clearer and healthier. She said that there will probably be a lot of redness and spottiness for a couple of days, and then it should look much better, so we shall see. She also recommended some changes to my daily regimen that I'm going to try. I'll let you know how things turn out.

Re: getting a facial
I hope you girls enjoy them! I got my mom one with a spa package for her birthday one year and she broke out a little after. We have really sensitive, dry/combination skin so I probably won't get one.

hmmm... I have pretty sensitive combination skin, but I lean more towards the oily side... I guess we'll see. I'll let you know how it goes!

I'm afraid of that too, a co-woker had one and her face looked worse than before she went.

Re: getting a facial (UPDATED with my experience)
i don't get facials often, but it is typical that your face will look red and irritated right after, but then will look great after a day or two. Definetely do not get one the day or two before the wedding

My skin tends to get red as well. I'll probably try it out a few months before the big day. Thanks for the info.

Love facials..if you get them about once every couple of months you will notice a big difference overall. The first time is a little scary, but your face will love you! Oh, and you will love your face!

Re: getting a facial (UPDATED with my experience)
I got a facial a couple weeks ago and I too was unsure of what to expect. The woman did a lot of squeezing on my nose so that was the only red part of my face- other than that part, the whole experience was very relaxing. If anyone is looking for a great place to go for a facial on the southshore, let me know. this place is amazing.
