So there are only two hotels near the RH, the third that's there is waaaaay overpriced. One has a cheaper rate but no suite! So where would I get ready??? FH does not understand this. I have 5 BP members that I want there, where would they fit in a little room with a hair and makeup person?? That's like 7 people, and maybe my mom too? That hotel suggested using a meeting space. What kind of pictures would that yield?!?!? The other hotel has the bridal suite, which is $$$, but I don't mind! But the room rate is more! The night of the wedding is $209, $40 more than the other place!! FH thinks our families won't even use the block if that's the rate. And he's prob right, especially if the rates without a block are cheaper elsewhere. But if we don't use a block there, the bridal suite is even more money!!! Ugh! I am so upset! What to do??????

A couple of ideas...don't know if any will work.
So do they charge you to set up the blocks? If they dont you can set up blocks at both and get the suite at the lower rate even if your other guests dont get rooms there maybe?
Does the cheaper hotel have adjoining rooms (like, with the doors on the inside)? You could get 2 rooms like that and open the doors and it will be like a suite.
Is there a bridal suite at your RH? Maybe you can get ready there?
Sorry, thats all I can think of right now. Good luck!

Some good ideas! I wanted to get ready at the RH because they have a gorgeous suite, but they told us we could only be there 2 hrs before, and we decided to use the time for pics.

I didnt even think about that myself. UGH!! MORE STRESS!! hahaha. Actually, can you FM me the prices you got from the HGI???

Okay, so FH actually came home on his lunch break because I was so upset on the phone! LOL! We are going to check the places out in person tomorrow! I had no idea this would be one of the most stressful things!

I too, know which one you are referring to...and the price is RIDICULOUS!
Is there something keeping you from booking a block of rooms at the cheaper hotel for your guests, and just booking the suite at the other hotel to get ready in? Just a thought. I'm not really looking foward to booking out there either. I don't really LOVE any of the places.

Re: Getting a hotel block is not fun!
Use the conference room to get ready, we are using ours for the meet and greet to cut costs and they are giving us the room for free with the block. See if they could do that!!!!!!! Good luck, sorry it's so frustrating!!!!!!!

Re: Getting a hotel block is not fun!
I actually went out there yesterday to do that- since we are getting married 4th of July weekend we figured we better do it early. There are some perks to the 209 place though..if you block a certain # of rooms they give you a round trip shuttle, which may sway people to stay for that price (it's worth it to not have to worry about driving!) Also, my parents are going to host a brunch there the next morning (more incentive for people to want to stay) and you can have them keep the bar open for 2 hours after the shuttles come back for $100! Those are all things people will like and might not spending the extra 40 dollars for! Also, the standard room was big for 209- it had 2 double beds so 2 couples could stay in it and split the cost which would make it cheaper. They also showed us suites for 229 and they have 2 queen beds and a pull out couch- which means 3 couples could even stay in it! And this hotel has a bridal suite too! People may be more willing to do that than you think! FM me if you don't think I am talking about the same hotel! Run it by your friends and family- you may be pleasantly surprised at their reactions! And you only need to have 10 rooms to qualify for the block! Hope this helps!!

So stressful!
I think the conference room is fine. Also, i don't see a problem with blocking rooms at both hotels and getting ready and the HGI.
Also, a lot of VC brides get ready at an Inn. Perhaps you can look into getting a room there especially if you are worried about pictures.
My future brother in-law is friends with the owner of Holiday Inn and the other one (can't think of the name) so he is working on the block for us.
I might just get ready at my aunt's house which is down the block from the church!

Ok the meeting space is not a terrible idea. You can dress it up. And leave it to your photographer to figure out the pictures. It's their job and they will be beautiful.
But I agree...hotel blocks are not fun. Ive gone over my block like 3 times with the hotel and they keep sending me a contract with the wrong information. Its so frustrating. So I am driving out there today to set this up in person and watch her write it. They are so dumb.
