getting a little nervous

getting a little nervous

My Bachellorette party is next weekend. Friday night we are going to dinner in the city... something fun ..probably lucky cheng's or lips. Then sat. morning the limo is picking us up to go to AC til Sunday.
here's why i'm nervous: The past week or 2 i've been having a lot of shortness of breath.. i went to the ER 2 times and got an albuterol treatment. I don't have asthma but i do smoke and i do have panic attacks that result in me feeling like i cant breathe at times. I went to the doc last night and he said my lungs sound good ( i was wheezing start of the week) ..but wants me to finish my antibiotic and take a mild inhaler if needed. But i've been so nervous about feeling that way and rushing to the ER again that i am super worried about being away for the night. I know it sounds silly.. but i wont have the comfort of my Doc. being around the corner and the hospital being right there and the ride to AC is pretty long. And i would feel terrible if i had an episode like that while i was away when my girls are paying for me to have this great weekend that i've been looking forward to for so long. Even right now i dont feel great. The doc is working with me to quit smoking..cause i know that will help a lot.. but with my panic attacks being so bad lately(probably from all the stress leading up to the wedding).. i'm not sure if that will still contribute to it. I already have xanax which normally helps but hasn't been helping as much lately due to the fact that i am actually having shortness of breath and not just panic.
I don't know wat to do.. but i'm getting really anxious about it

sorry just needed to get that out!!!

Try not stressing yourself out about it too much because it seems like that would only make it worse. I'm sure you will be ok and you'll have a wonderful weekend!

oh wow....I could see why you are nervous...I would want to be near my doctor too....

I know this may sound weird by try some deep breathing meditation exercises to help you relax...asthma is also offset by stress and anxiety...

hopefully you will be having so much fun next weekend you won't notice anyway...feel better and take care of yourself.

Hopefully you will focusing on what to bring with you and you will be having such a great job that you'll be fine.

I know you would always prefer your doctor...but as a last resort...if it did happen while you were away, there are hopsitals everywhere.

I really think you'll be fine b/c you'll be with your friends and will be having so much fun.

Re: getting a little nervous

I am a chronic asthmatic -- I've had it since I was a baby.
Asthma and wheezing should not be taken lightly!!!!!!! I had an aunt that went into an asthmatic coma (she died 8 months later) and a neighbor (aerobics instructor) who died after her first attack.

You can go to AC but please please please seek medical attention if you feel like the inhaler isn't doing its job. You can go to any local ER for a nebulizer treatment. You will get priority at the ER because it's that dangerous.

I don't know you but for God's sake -- stop smoking!!!!!

What if it's not just stress -- you should see an asthma and allergy specialist so they can run some tests on you

Re: getting a little nervous

thank you ladies.
I actually wound up seeing my doctor at the hospital last night and he admitted me for the day ( just got home) .. he did a chest X-Ray and gave me some fluids (my BP is low) and basically wanted me to rest.
He said my lungs look good but it could be remnants of the symptoms i was having a earlier in the week and i was sick a few weeks ago that are just making me a little more short of breath. And the shortness of breath is raising my stress and anxiety levels.
He still wants to send me for some lung function tests just to be sure. But for right now i seem to be ok. I'm still going to keep the local ER in mind for the weekend, i tend to worry a lot .. but hopefully you are all right and i will be having such a good time i wont even think about it!!!!
