We may be swiching reception halls. We gave our hall a 500 deposit and another 1000 is due in July. I don't have the contract in front of me so I'm not sure what the policy is. I'm assuming some places you don't get it back. Is there anything we could do if that is the case, like a sob story lol where we could get it back?

If the RH is in Suffolk county and you wedding is more then 6 months away, by law you will get back any money paid minus $100.

Nassau County you may be out of luck - you have to read your contract, but you'll be ok if the RH is in Suffolk....
