Getting fit

Getting fit

After my not so happy dress fitting last week, I decided that I needed to do something so I signed up with a personal trainer for 18 sessions. I'm going to go twice a week. So between work, school, wedding planning, and trying to get in shape, I will be very busy but I had better look good in my wedding dress!

What are you ladies doing to get in shape for the big day?

Re: Getting fit

you really need to be concious of what you are eating, with being so busy its easy to just have fast food instead of a healthy meal. Also skipping meals is no good, you have to keep your metabolism up, small consistant meals throughout the day will give you more energy and keep your met. fast.
Also, you should try going to the gym more than twice a week, if not walk at home.
Good Luck, let us know how you do.

Re: Getting fit

I work out at home, problem is I am getting alot of muscle (it think) under my fat and not really burning the fat. I take the stairs, not the elevator. i drink alot more water than I ever used to. No soda. I am vegan so I already had a low fat diet, problem is that I have a tendancy to shop and places that make really good vegan junk food! Kevin got Chocolate Truffles for V Day. I could have killed him. Also no alchol unless it is a good reason, or just one drink.

Re: Getting fit

Doing THE FIRM 2x per week - also Cardio. Eating 'right', cut down on Alcohol, and chocolate. Eating Calcium rich foods and GReen Tea.

so far I have only lost 3 pounds in 6 weeks. I'm hoping it will kick in soon!

No 'bad' carbs (only salad and veggies), no sugar, no alcohol (no fun!), Tae-Bo every morning and the gym 5X a week...I have A LOT of weight to lose and 12 weeks to do it!

Re: Getting fit

im really trying to tone up the parts of my body that will be 'exposed' ie. my shoulders and triceps. i usually go to the gym about 3 times a week, but i'm going to step up my back, shoulder and arm exercises.

if you've got three months left, i think going to a trainer two times a week is great. you may also want to try going to the gym 2 more times a week on your own to get some cardio in.

i would also buy some 5-10 pound dumbells and do some arm exercises at home.

also make sure that you're eating at least 5 small meals a day. drink lots of water, lay off on the sweets and alcohol and you'll be good to go!

Re: Getting fit

we gave up refined sugar for lent. so far so good. . . there's so much natural sugar in fruits that it's easier to give up than you'd think. (it's still not easy, but it's not back breaking). In addition to exercise it's a great idea to incorporate more fish into your diet. Having fish 2 to 3 times a week, with some veggies will show a definite change. . . and water water water!

Dont skip breakfast!!!!!!!!!

Re: Getting fit

My FH and I go to the gym 3-4 times a week. 45 min on treadmill and then alternate arms/legs/pilates after that. I really need to start watching what I am eating though.

Re: Getting fit

Congratulations! That is wonderful! For me, I have started the Body for Life diet. Do 2 days 20 minute aerobics (varying intensity) then three days strength training (varying body parts) then you get to eat 6 times a week with one carb and one protein at each meal and at least 1 portion of vegetables with two of the meals. Then the sixth day you can eat what you'd like but its so funny, psychologically, you don't want to cheat. I like it because I have tried everything from starving myself to atkins and have really found that the indigestion of carbs (whole weat pasta, whole wheat breads) have been wonderful. Thats just me anyway, I really enjoy it and am so excited to see results. I tell you, the biggest motivator is that you take 'before' shots. HOLY COW! Literally! I had no idea I had let myself look so bad! So, that definitely keeps you motivated! Good luck with your training!

Re: Getting fit

You will look beautiful Daniela as will all the 05 girls.

I go to Weight Watchers and do the Core program which is basically low carb. Also working out and drinking plenty of water. I have lost 15 pounds since December. I hope to lose much more by October.

Re: Getting fit

I need to really get started on the exercise program. I started the eating good part but now I need to start the firm again and get my cardio again. I think everyday I am going to switch between pilates and the firm and at night I will go to the gym to do cardio. 16 weeks until the wedding but it will be worth it.

Re: Getting fit

I meet with a personal trainer twice a week and try to do cardio (40 minutes on elliptical) two additional times per week at least, so I'm at the gym usually 4 times a week. I also *try* to eat a high protein/low carb diet but it's hard.

Re: Getting fit

I'm just watching my portions and I go to the gym 2-3x per week. I'm concentrating mainly on my arms and my abs (always a problem spot) with some cardio. I'm going tomorrow to get 5 lb weights because with school 2 nights a week and all the final appointments, fittings, etc now, I don't have as much time to get to the gym as I would like. This will allow me to do some stuff at home.

Re: Getting fit
