Getting Frustrated about my shower....

My shower is a complete surprise but I just feel like every week its getting closer to being ruined,... This is how it started,........ MY mom yelled at me because I was asking her a question about something. just making sure she was involving the BP and I didn't think she was enough..so shes like 'the invites were already mailed' Im like why did you have to tell me that when you are the one that wants it to be a big surprise liek me.. I know I am getting one but I dont want to know when. i want to be surprised.. then the next week I get a package from FH's aunt in NH she insisted on mailing it even though I didn't change the mailing address yet DUH!!!! She could have waited its not like its this week or anything!! that pissed me off and on top of that my FMIL lives in the same apartment building as me and walked right past the box and was like oh I was gonna bring that in.. So my mom got mad about that... Then My AUnt in Fl told me OH yeah I got your invite .. it was o pretty .. Im like HUH! What invite.. then I just stopped her and was liek MY SHOWER IS A SURPRISE DONT TELL ME ANYTHING> then on my myspace account a friend of mine posted.. ' I got your invite Count me in' Then I called my parents house today and my dads like something came from Macys for you today! ERRRRRRRR!!

DO people not know that a friggin shower is supposed to be a surprise or am I just overacting??

wow I'm sorry...my fmil actually called my house and said 'tell your mom, I'll be there may 18' so i figured this was my shower..because she went dead silent and started with an evil laugh...it was horrible!

alot of that happened to me too hahaha, it was crazy and i guess some people don't know its a surprise

My shower isn't a surprise because if have a crazy work schedule so i sort of had to know. My MOH is trying so hard to not have me involved in the rest of the planning because she wanted some things to be a surprise, but my mom keeps telling me everything and the most frustrating part is, for some reason my mom doesn't want to call either girl in my BP to talk about my shower. So she calls me and says 'Can you call Amy and ask her if she's making the wishing well or do i need to rent it?'!! Call her and ask her! So annoying!

I had the same issues except it was co-workers who couldn't keep quiet! They really either have never been to a SURPRISE party or just couldn't care it was a surprise. I felt so horrible about knowing that I only told FH that I found out and even though he was really upset for a few days, in the end he was happy I didn't know all of the surprises.
I have to say that even though I knew where and when it was I had no idea of what it would look and what ideas my sister and mom came up with.
They went above and beyond to add soo many personal and significant touches and that was the best surprise of all!

People just dont think at all anymore - id just let it go - stick your fingers in your ears and say LA LA LA!!!

I keep telling my mom i want to be surprised and now she kinda wants me to plan my surprise shower Shes a weirdo

LOL I have a similar issue. My mom is developing dementia and she keeps thinking that I'm my sister and she talks about my shower to me but in her mind she's talking about it with my sister. Your friends and family aren't trying to ruin it on purpose, I think a lot of people have this problem where thinking before they speak is incredibly difficult. I think you should invest in earplugs from now until your shower

honestly, i don't think some people know that a shower is supposed to be a surprise anymore. let's face it, i think a lot of brides these days do know when their shower will be. but don't stress, even if it's not surprise, it won't make it any less fun and special

I had no idea that a shower was supposed to be a surprise. I have been to a few and planned 4. I had no idea.

I told my sister just to tell me when my shower is going to be. I know I am going to have one, it doesnt need to be a surprise. That way I wont be dissapointed if the surprise is ruined.

I just think people don't realize that even though it's 2008 some girls still want to be surprised. Years ago, showers weren't this extravagant or organized so now it's just not practical to expect such a huge surprise to be kept. I'm sure people just don't realize and I think you're doing the right thing by clue-ing them in that HELLOOOOOOOOOOOO IT'S A SURPRISE PARTY!!!! haha Did ur mom mention that in the invite?? In all honesty, I personally would have assumed that you knew also.......

Was the phrase, 'Shhh, it's a surprise' printed on the invite? If not, than people really do not realize they shouldn't say anything.

ive gotten shower invites without that saying on it, and i still dont say anything. Showers are typically surprises so you dont want to say anything just in case, dont want to assume they just know and be the one who ruin the surprise. People ARE just idiots lol, i mean somebody who i met the day before my shower, they didnt get an invite to my shower obviously lol bc i dont know them but she said to me 'oh youre the one who is having her shower tomorrow' ...i had 3 incidents of this happening.

The funny part is that my grandma has slight dementia and also suffering from something else and i thought it was going to be her who ruins it if anything. I thought she would say,ok see you tomorrow at your thing and you know what she is the ONLY person i wouldnt have gotten mad at if she did bc i wouldve understood but she didnt at all. She helped my mother wrap all my favors and she asked my mom if she can come downstairs so my mom can help her with something, she was trying her best to be secretive i got the point lol but she was trying.
