Getting Married at Catering Hall?

Getting Married at Catering Hall?

For those of you who are getting married at your catering hall - how are you handling the rehearsal?

We were told that we could do a quick rehearsal before the ceremony - which makes me a little nervous because we're a large bridal party, etc.

I'm not sure how this will work - plus, I really didn't want FH to see me in my gown before the ceremony?

Your thoughts?

Maybe you could have a quick rehearsal at another location?? Or during an off night before the big day?

One of my friends has this same problem. She's staging a rehearsal at her mother's house. Everyone's coming over to go through their roles in the ceremony (she has a big bridal party, too). And she's not wearing her dress because she doesn't want FH to see it...

Also, her mom's having dinner catered at the house.

We aren't having a rehearsal (per say). The morning of the wedding, the Maitre'D is going to tell us what to do, and they will be there to help us along the way.

We are having a rehearsal at the hall the night before.
Your place won't let you do that?

Our rehersal is suppose to be that day at 3pm. Our ceremony starts at 7pm. I am thinking of having a rehersal the night before instead. I don't really want to do it the day of the wedding. I may need that time to get my hair done in the city.

If by some chance the Riviera is unable to accommadate us (they may be able to work something out the wednesday before the event) I plan to hold the rehearsal at another location (My uncle is a minister I may use his church) just so everyone gets a sense of what to do at the ceremony etc.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

I'll feel better after I have our first planning meeting with the caterer...

We wanted to do it at the hall but they said that they have so many weddings there that they just couldn't accommodate time for a rehearsal for everyone. They said that they go over the ceremony with you right before the ceremony (minus the bride - so the groom won't see her). Basically the bride will just walk down the aisle anyway. So we are doing a rehearsal at my parents house instead right before the rehearsal dinner.

our maitre'd gave us the run down the morning of and we were pretty good with it. After watching the video, the guys walked a little too fast and the seating of the mothers was a little haphazard....but it was fine.

we were told that originally too, but i fought it and now the hall will let us do it the thursday before, b/c they don't have many parties that night. try to talk to them.

I'm getting married at the hall & we were told me can do a rehearsal if we wanted on the Thursday night before my wedding. We were told we wouldn't really need one was we can do a quick run through before the wedding, but I didn't want that...hectic enough morning!

When are you taking photos? Is there a gap between your ceremony & your CH? You mention not wanting FH to see you before the ceremony. We are doing photos at 9am, then ceremony at 11:30am, so he's going to see me anyway.

Insist on doing whatever will make you comfortable...I know some halls try to discourage the rehearsal onsite...

I would ask before hand what the ceremony entails. We are getting married at the reception hall but I was in a wedding where my friend got married at hers too. So I know how it works. We also learned from their mistake.

The people running the ceremony said follow your names, they are on the floor. I did but I winded up standing where the maid of honor was supposed to be and it was too late to move. Her maid of honor stood next to me and I tried to side step away from here. But it looks like she had 2 moh's.
