Getting married at church? This caught my eye.....
Okay, this may have been discussed before, but I was just going over my 'Marriage Preparation Guide Book' given to me by my priest.
It suggested a great way to save on floral expenses for the church. By sharing the expense with other couples who will also be getting married the weekend you plan to.
I mean if you think about it, it would probably save time between weddings to set up everything. Just a thought...

Personally I didn't think about this because we are donated the arrangements to the church and we are having large wreaths made for the church doors that we will have the DOC bring to the RH to hang on the doors there

We can't have flowers for the church, we're getting married during lent. It'll already be decorated (or actually, not decorated). It doesn't bother me, they're still letting us do pews bows and such.

we are not getting flowers at the church, since the altar already has flowers anyway.
ETA: and my church does not allow any petals thrown or anything (they are super strict!)

Yeah our priest told us that is really wasn't necessary for us to get floral arrangements because they already have flowers on the altar.
But when I read this suggestion, I thought I would share it coz I never even thought of it. Maybe it might help someone else who wanted to save some $$$.

But how do you find out who the other people are that weekend?? I know my church would never give out the names, its a privacy issue.

i'm getting married the day before palm sunday and my church told me that if i really wanted i could get flowers, but they suggested that i don't waste my money because they couldn't stay in the church. my church also doesn't allow flower petals of any kind either

I don't know if your getting married in a catholic church or not but I am catholic and we have to do pre-cana....so if this is your situation then you can ask the other couples in your pre-cana group what weekend they are getting married and maybe you'll find someone who has your wedding day, this is how my friend shared flowers w/ someone when she got married.

Well my church provided me with a Marriage Guide and it said to contact the rectory or your priest for the arrangements.
ETA: I just thought it was a nice gesture of my church to even suggest it. You know trying to help us save money.

Alot of florists have said to just share arrangements with other people getting married that day. We're only having the ceremony...so we'll be there for half an hour. We're not even getting arrangements for the church since we'll only be in there for 30 minutes. To me, its not even necessary.

That's a great idea!!! I'm pretty sure I'm the only wedding that day...but I'll be sure to make that suggestion to my friends in the future
