Getting Married in my Home Church

Getting Married in my Home Church

I've been a member of this church my entire life. My parents went there before they were even married (in fact that's where they met) and I as well have been going ever since I was a baby.

In 4 months I'll be getting married there by the Pastors who have basically known me since the week I was born. Since I'm a member - I'm not being charged any kind of officiant fees. I do, however, feel it's appropriate to give SOMETHING.

Is anybody else in this situation? I'm just wondering what you think would be enough? I can't afford too much. Maybe $100??? Do you think that sounds okay? I would do less if I could get away with it, but I definitely don't wanna 'disrespect' them at all, ya know? Maybe I'll ask around, and find out from some of my friends who were married there already.

But if anybody else is (or has been) in this situation, please let me know what you think would be appropriate.

do you know what they normally ask for in terms of a donation? you could probably base it off of that.

We paid the full amount but our priest sent us a check back for the full amount after the wedding saying he knew we probably needed it more than the parish starting out in our life together. This year at Christmas though, we're going to give it all back to the parish fund.
