Getting married in park?

Getting married in park?

Hi, Ladies,

Is anyone or has anyone gotten married in a park? Keep coming back to this idea in my head of having the ceremony in a park, then we can do pics and head to reception. Really want to have ceremony at house but then we can't invite everyone to ceremony (Where would they park is my biggest concern). At a park everyone can be invited.

I'm specifically thinking of Eisenhower Park as I saw on their website that they allow ceremonies there.

Any input and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Keep in mind that you'd have to get permits and rent chairs in order to do this. And arrange for the chairs to be setup and also picked up when the ceremony is over.

Yes, the cost of a permit for Eisenhower is $100 and you can have 20 chairs, I think for elderly, etc. It's only going to be about 20 minutes for the ceremony so I think we'll be ok.

Just speaking to my Mom about having the house ceremony and she kind of liked it too. But then I could only invite immediate family and close friends to the ceremony part. She said my family wouldn't mind not going to the ceremony but I have to see how his family would feel.

It would just be so much more intimate and save us alot of time and confusion with having to take pictures before the ceremony if it's at the reception site.

I wanted to have our wedding outside, but I got really nervous about weather. FH and I looked at a park with a covered pavillion, but rain could still get in on the sides. We looked into renting tents, but they were very expensive and if we are under a tent what's the point of being outside? We then thought about having it in our backyard so incase of rain we could move inside, but that created the problem of limiting guest to 30 or so (so everyone could sit down)

I have seen many beautiful outdoor weddings, but I ended up being too chicken to do it myself. We are having ours on a boat with lots of windows, so we'll get the feel of outside and still be protected from the weather.
