Getting Married in two days?

Getting Married in two days?

What am I supposed to do? We rented a loft in Brooklyn, overlooking the Manhattan skyline and now the only view is of wafting clouds of smoke and a gut wrenching stench.

Many people still seem optomistic about the wedding and want us to have it, but will they be able to travel there? Some guests just don't want to be anywhere near NY and I can understand that, but I feel like my day is ruined and now I may not even get a wedding.

I was in the city when it happened and have been numb ever since. I want to know who I call about this! A wedding is supposed to be a joyous occasion, and now there is all this death and destruction around my 'special' day!

I don't know if we should proceed or not and my Fi just doesn't want to. But all this planning and money...I need a reward for all that and this extra pain that we're now feeling.

I hear you - We Are getting married tomorrow. We are not letting this cowardly act ruin our lives. It will be hard to celebrate and some people will be missing because they are part of the rescue mission a firefighter, doctor and grief counseler a few others because of travel. But we will go on, but probably postpone the honeymoon to Italy.

Please get married....

I really think if you and your family has not lost someone very close to you should still get married. You have planned and worked hard at this and you do deserve to have your day. Maybe it will be different then you had orginally planned but you should celebrate life, love and happiness. There has not been much of it around these past fews days and if you and your Fi can make yourselves and your loved ones happy even just for a moment during this horrible time that's something wonderful!!

I receieved an email yesterday that made mention of not waiting till tomorrow b/c you never know....
you have the chance to marry the man you love.....and you never know if you'll get that chance again!!!

Please embrace the love you have for love eachother and celebrate your love for all of those who no longer have the chance to do that.

If you really feel that you cannot go through with it- then that is the choice that is right for you- but my vote is to have it!

We are getting married on the 28th- but if for some reason we cannot get to NY or things do not work out- my Fi and I deceided that we will just go to the local courthouse and get married- we don't want to put it off- b/c you never know.

Good luck and I really hope this works out for you!!! My prayers are with you!

Go forward with your weddings...

Whether you choose to scale down your reception celebration or not, you should still persevere and celebrate your ceremony with love and commitment.

I keep thinking about the young woman, Gilian, who's fiance is lost in the rubble. They were supposed to be married in Dec. this year. They may not get their chance.

Take your chance with your families to share your love. Protect it fiercely from anyone that challenges it. Gather your loved ones and tell them how much they mean to you both...there's no better time to do this.

Above all, put some perspective on this. If your loved ones have not been involved in this tragedy, you have an extra special blessing to celebrate.
Best wishes and Godspeed.

I agree. Provided none of your close family/friends have been injured go ahead and celebrate your love and family. Im sure everyone invited will be happy to see all their friends/family safe as well as celebrate what is important.

DON'T LET THE 'BAD GUYS' WIN!

I can't even imagine how hard it is, but you have to continue on, if you don't you will just be saying that we let the terrorists get to us.. we are stronger and we are tougher than that.. you and your fiance love each other, that is all you need, and besides people will be looking forward to a chance to have a break from the horror of this past week, kind of leave reality for a moment, and just dance and have a great time!!! This makes me think of our grandparnets during WWII.. how many of them got married, only to have their husbands go off to war.. people will find a way in, and celebrate your special day!! The thing that makes your day perfect is that you and your fiance have each other.. don't let a second go by, because you don't know when it will end!

Go forward with your wedding--If I could, I would...

Thank you. We have already decided to go forward with the ceremony only and postpone the reception, as it was to be in Brooklyn and no one can get there with all these bridge closings.

It should be the happiest time in my life, but it is not. I have been wiped out for the past few days and have lost my feeling of security to the point that I don't even want to return to work. We may not even be able to take our honeymoon if the airports aren't letting international flights out!

I am grateful that my family is alive and safe, but I find it painful to even think about picking up my dress today when there is so much pain around and so few people will be able to make it to share what was supposed to be the best day of my life.
