Have any of you girls thought about having your ceremonies the night before the reception? I prob wouldn't, but I'm just thinking how things would be if we got all ready on Friday day, married at the church on Friday night, took pictures afterwards, spent the night together.....then had reception on Saturday! I would get ready again on Saturday morning, and I would get to wear my dress twice! lol.....just a thought...

That is an interesting idea. I say go for it! Who doesn't want to wear their dress more than once.

Re: Getting married the night before?
My ceremony is the day before the reception....but it's a Indian wedding so we have different outfits....we have a week of celebrations so it's not like I will get much rest or a quiet evening.
If you are thinking about doing something like this, it gets very costly because you need hair and makeup twice, you might want a photographer or videographer present at the reception, plus room blocks for out of town guests get tricky.

Wonder how many guests would attend both ceremony and reception. It would mean an extra night in a hotel for out of town guests.

I agree with this. We are doing the same thing bc we're also having an Indian wedding and it feels like we're having 2 separate weddings cost-wise. Even though we're doing everything we can to try and keep the price down as much as possible, I still feel like it's almost costing me my first-born child! lol

Re: Getting married the night before?
My dad suggested this AFTER our wedding to someone else. I LOVED the idea and would have TOTALLY done this. We would have had more time for pictures, gotten pretty two days in a row and the wedding wouldn't have been such a long day. If I would have done this though the ceremony would be a very small ceremony at a park and I wouldn't have my girls get ready 2 days in a row. I would just have my sisters and DH's BM and BIL. We would have invited immediate family and those in the bridal party. It would still add cost but I wish my dad would have mentioned this BEFORE the wedding!

After reading some posts, I am thinking more about this idea. The only bump in the road that I can think of is that some guests might be offended that they have to stay two nights at a hotel in order to attend the ceremony. How would I word this on the invitations?

You will need double hair and makeupfor EVERYONE and then what about the flowers - will they last and look great the next day?

I would put the invitation as the same way you would any other invitaion. Just make a separate reception card stating something along the lines of having the reception the following day.
No matter what you do with your wedding people will always have something to say 'the ceremony is a different day?' 'the gap is so big between?' 'why are they getting married there?' 'I don't want to sit with them.' So what makes you and DH happy. I think it's a great idea and wish I would have thought of it so we had more time to take pictures and great everyone.

The only turnoff is that our families would need double hair and makeup....hmmm
