This is the second time I have done it...the first was right after we got engaged..I am realizing its still too big....Is it ok to do it again to platinum??
EDITED FOR UPDATE We went yesterday and the jeweler wasn't there...I have to wait until next Saturday But I will getting those bead..thanks girls

Have you considered sizing beads instead of re-sizing the ring? My jeweler said that an added benefit is that it keeps the ring from turning around on your hand.

I'm not sure how to explain the sizing beads. They are small beads of platinum that they solder to the inside of the band to act as a sort of spacer. You cannot see them when the ring is on. If your finger gets bigger later, you can always have the beads shaved off. That part of it sounds great. I want my ring just a tiny bit smaller and my jeweler says he can use sizing beads that are really tiny.

Wow...I have never heard of sizing beads. It sounds really good. I also need to get my ring smaller it's a little too big. They never mentioned the beads to me. I think I am going to look into them. Thanks for the info.

My jeweler calls the sizing balls 'torture balls' so he uses these things that look like a cross between ring guards and mini door-stoppers that he puts in his rings. My sister has the balls in her ring and says you 'get used to it' after a while. If you are sensitive, then maybe think about something other than the balls.
I have not been engaged that long (almost four months) but I have had my ring sized twice (now it's perfect) and he said that it does not affect the 'integrity of the metal' so contrary to what sounds logical, it isn't supposed to harm your ring at all. He's willing to do it for me (up or down) for free forever.
The balls and the insert I described above also help with the hula hoop effect of your stone spinning around.

I was just going to say STOP, don't cut into it yet until you try the resizing balls but see that others here have recommended them to you and you are looking into them.
Honestly, I don't even feel mine. The ring is a bit more snug in the summer humidity butfir my ring it changed the size down a 1/4 of a size.
