I plan on getting ready at my apartment, instead of renting a hotel room.
One of my friends thought it was a bad idea to get ready at the house. She said between the day before (getting things organized) and after we're done getting ready the day of, the apartment may not be in any condition to have photographer and videographer come in to take pictures.
Are any of you, who are getting ready in your own home, concerned about this? Do you think it would be a good idea to have someone come in and clean?
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: Getting ready at home versus a Hotel.
I got ready in my parent's home. I thought it was much easier. I had hairdressers and a make up artist come in. My Mom got bagels and fruit and we made mamosas. The photographer came and it all worked out great. We were done with everything wedding-wise the week before, so there was nothing messy about the house - just the day-of stuff that would occur at the hotel also.

I have thought about this but with my anal tendencies I am sure the apt will look fine. If I am too frazzled I know that my mom and sister will keep it under control for me.

I am getting ready at a hotel just for the fact that I don't have any other place to get ready, since I live with my fiance and he will be getting ready at our house.

I'm getting my hair done at a salon and then I will get dresses at the reception hall. I want to make sure I'm not wrinkled when I get there because it's a bit of a ride. My mom will probably be upset that she doesn't get to take pictures at her house but this will just make it easier .

I have the same issue, my friend volunteered her apt but I know myself and I won't feel comfortable at her place, so I am going to a hotel, too.

I am getting ready at the hotel because my mom doesn't want any photographers in the house.

I'll bet getting ready at a hotle because I live in Westchester and I didn't want to have to be running around and driving ut to LI on my wedding day. My bridal party and I will stay over the night before and get ready all together.

Re: Getting ready at home versus a Hotel.
We got ready at our house and the condition of the house was not really a concern (although the photographers did take a picture of me fully dressed dusting the mirror and the videographer has footage of me with hair & makeup down making one of the beds!!!).

i still live in the house i grew up in so i couldn't imagine getting ready any place else. if i had an apartment i probably would still get ready here. i have lots of memories from my home that i would want my pictures to be there.

Re: Getting ready at home versus a Hotel.
Unfortunately, I can't get ready at my house because I'm too far away. I would give anything to get ready at home, because I feel like all the things I love and might need are there. I'm also not psyched about the possibility of people seeing me in the hotel prior to my arrival at the church.
If you feel like you would be more comfortable in your apartment, then you should totally get ready there. Just make sure that your week before to-do list has 'Cleaning The Apartment' on it so you won't stress out the night before.

Re: Getting ready at home versus a Hotel.
My girl is currently debating this. Her mom is from Wading River (exit68), and we are getting married at the Swan Club (exit37). Its a long trip back and fourth.
My future MIL wants me to get a nice suite nearby the Swan Club and get it for the two days. The first day would be used for them to get ready. The second would be for me and my girl to spend the night at after we got married.
What do you guys think?

Re: Getting ready at home versus a Hotel.
I think I'm going to get ready at a hotel. I'm worried about the apt not being up to my usual standards (I'm a bit compulsive). Also, I think hotels just photograph better. I remember seeing pics of someone getting ready and there were empty bottles of soda in the background. That would drive me nuts when I got my proofs!
