Getting rid of make-up

I'm doing some spring cleaning and have so much old make-up I need to get rid of.

Just curious - How long to you hold onto make-up?

3-6 months depending on what it is....

Margaret I need to do the same, I always hold makeup and say I will use it & I never do. I have a bag full that needs to meet with the garbage pail soon!

LnP - you're good. I'm looking thru this stuff and I have some funky colors that I haven't used since I graduated HS (that was 1991 - yikes!!!!!).

I am so bad....I get rid of it when I am tired of it or when i run out....I guess i should be more careful and chuck it when it goes bad...oops!

I have eyeliners still with the wrappings on them. I dont really wear a lot of make up so it all sits in my make up bags until I get around to tossing it.

I have so many lipsticks, lipliners and everything else I just dont know why I dont toss half of it. I should get around to it

I never wear makeup, but I have this odd obsession with buying lipstick. I just went through my makeup drawer, and I must have had 200 of them! I also had like 15 kinds of foundation, an eyeshadow to complement every outfit I ever owned, and at least 10 mascaras. I decided since I never wear any of the stuff, I kept a few things, and donated the rest to a high school in my neighborhood that has a cosmetology department. They were thrilled! At least someone is getting some use out of it now.

Someday bride that's such a great idea!

I should do the same thing but I feel like I just bought most of it that it seems so wasteful to throw it away. Although I am fairly diligent about mascara and eyeliners.

How long should you keep powdered items?
