I know they recommend 1 hour before for domestic and 2 hours for international, what about Aruba? I know it is officially international, but should I get there 2 hours early? Seem excessive for such a short flight? I'm trying to figure out what time to have the limo pick us up
Thanks :)

Re: Getting to the Airport early question
With any airport the busiest times are all the time!! I would recommend getting their at least 2 hours early, or at least 1 hour and a half. You don't know what lines there will be or what may happen while there (weather, etc), so best to be early and wait, then late and rushing around.

Re: Getting to the Airport early question
i'd get there two hours in advance. you never know. FH and I went to jamaica a few years ago and arrived about 2 hr. and 15 min. before the flight took off. between security and i don't know what else, we just barely made the plane.

I'd do the two hours as well. A lot of times, the international check in area is a zoo.

Re: Getting to the Airport early question
We got there 2 1/2 hours early. There were only 10 people on line before us to the check-in counter. Then there was like 40 people ahead for the metal detectors (you have to even take off your shoes now!) and when we sat down at the gate, my phone rang - it was my Mom! Talked to her for a 1/2 hour about the wedding, did some browsing at the Swatch store, had a bite to snack on and a drink and then we were boarding!
It went quick. I had a bad experience, missing a flight years ago, and I am determined not to repeat it.

Re: Getting to the Airport early question
Our flight was at 9am, we actually wanted an earlier flight but it was all booked up.
Yeah it's crazy but just think, that gives you a whole day at your honeymoon location!

Re: Getting to the Airport early question
if you are flying out of JFK- get there as early as possible
we got there at 6:00 am for a 8:30am flight and you can't check bags at the curb- people were missing flights- it was a nightmare

Re: Getting to the Airport early question
We got there an hour and a half before our flight and they REFUSED TO TAKE OUR BAGS AT ALL, not just from curbside. This was Air Jamaica and it turned into a huge ordeal, both that morning and for the rest of the week. We were in Antigua for a week with only our carry ons. We never received any compensation or perks, even though we were lied to & were told that my MIL could drop off our bags at freight. Freight refused to accept them and by that time, we were on our way to Antigua. This wasn't our honeymoon and turned out to be a great time, but still! Air Jamaica was a terrible experience and I will never fly them again, but even with other airlines, I won't chance being late again. PS--This was JFK!

Re: Getting to the Airport early question
i never had a problem flying out of JFK, but i would get there at least 2 hours ahead of time. why chance it?
i also think it depends on what airline you are flying. i have flown a lot of airlines and when i have had problems (especially flights leaving late) they are usually american carriers.

Re: Getting to the Airport early question
It depends what day you are going to the airport, if you are going to check in your luggage.
I would definitivelly be at the airport 1.5 to 2 hours prior to your flight (not counting transit time to get there!).
