Getting veil and shoes before gown comes in?

Getting veil and shoes before gown comes in?

I ordered my gown from Kleinfeld, and it's supposed to come in a few months before the wedding (they don't want it sitting in the shop, or you taking it home and getting it altered elsewhere). I think I can only get a swatch of fabric after it comes in. Just wondering if you have to use that to get the veil and shoes? I figure the shoes don't have to totally match since they aren't seen much, but what about the veil??

Also, total aside, but I bought the dress in January and I guess they will order it depending on however long it takes to come in that few months before the wedding. I keep feeling like I should eventually call and check up, but they are a pretty reputable place, so maybe I'm being silly...

well, first of all, you should be able to get a swatch of your dress before it comes in. you just tell your consultant at the store and she should order a swatch from the designer (that is what I did, but I got my dress at a different store than you, if that matters).

2nd, I got both my shoes and veil before my dress came in. I actually got the veil at the same store as my dress, so that's how I tried them on together.

hope this helps!

I got my veil and shoes before my dress came in and once I had a piece of material, I got my shoes dyed later on.

I bought both before the gown and they seem to match fine (knock on wood). I took the shoes to the shop when I had my fitting. I'll take the veil next time I go in.

I had to do the headpiece without the dress as well. And everyone at the bridal salon was impressed with how well it goes! You'll be fine.

I got my dress at Kleinfeld's also...have to wait til August for my 1st fitting and to get a swatch for the veil and shoes.

I already have my shoes...it's an ivory satin designer gown. Designers will not give out swatches until your gown comes in wherein they take it from your own dress so it's EXACT. The fabric from each dress made varies from dress to dress so things might be slightly different. How much different can one ivory silk satin wedding gown look from another. It *****, but patience is a virtue OR you could go ahead w/o it. I'm sure if there is a difference, it won't be THAT noticeable.

Kleinfelds has you sign that damn contract stating you aren't getting a swatch until the gown comes in, so don't even bother calling to complain...I did it myself last week and got nowhere.

I know that my dress is silk white, so I know what color veil I need. I took some close up photos of the various details of my dress, so that I can match it up in case I forget.

I also took close up photos of the fabric and beads on my mom's dress, in case we want to find matching accessories.

I got a swatch and I bought my shoes and veil before my dress came in. Be careful when you buy your veil (especially if you gown is not white). My designer calls his color Diamond White, but my veil designer said that it is closer to an Ivory by Reem Acra. The ivory/diamond white color have a large range. The color that matched my dress color the best was called eggshell. You should def. get a swatch before you order your veil. Shoes can be dyed...

I bought my shoes before the dress arrived. I found a lovely pair (not wedding shoes, they were normal shoes) that are ivory and white. My dress is ivory, and they matched well.

My veil I tried on when the dress arrived. I went to check it out before the first fitting to make sure it was the right dress, color, size, etc. Ask Kleinfeld's, but most veils don't take that long to order. The one I chose arrived within a week. So if you have a few months before the wedding, it might be best to choose the veil when you have the dress on again. Or go back to Kleinfeld's and try on the sample again.
